Jefferson Open Futsal Tournament Results
FC Richmond had a strong showing at the Jefferson Open Futsal Tournament last month. We were excited for our MAC futsal courts to be one of the host sites. FC Richmond had several teams make it to the semi-finals and two teams make it to the finals; our U12/2007 Boys' team and our U9/2010 Girls' team were Finalists in the Jefferson Open! Congratulations to these teams!
Soccer Clinics & Training Opportunities
Total Soccer Training (TST) is a supplemental training program designed to help players reach their full potential. TST offers small group training and one-on-one training. TST training options and pricing structure have been improved to offer more options while saving money! TST group training prices have been lowered, and players can sign up with their OWN group if they would like to train with friends, teammates, etc. For more information click HERE .

"Beyond the Game" Player Spotlight
Christopher Tarczynski
Christopher Tarczynski, a U-17 Metro boys player, is going "Beyond the Game" by taking a stance on underage drinking. He is participating in a local video challenge, "Drinking is Not for Me", sponsored by CBS-6, where he explains that he does not need to drink to have fun. Christopher's video was selected as one of five finalists which gives him the chance to win $1,500. His film and video teacher at Cosby HS could also win $1,000. If Christopher wins, he will save the money for college. It's a tight race so let's help him win! Please take a moment to check out Christopher's video and VOTE HERE!

Continuing Coaching Education
Several members of our coaching staff are headed to the annual United Soccer Coaches Convention in Chicago this week. The event gives coaches the opportunity to experience more than 250 education sessions. Over five days, the 250 sessions will be presented by more than 200 coaches and experts. Director of Coaching Trip Ellis; Assistant Director of Coaching, Trip Dunville; Technical Director, Dave Amsler; and travel coach, Mac Phillips will be attending this year.
Alumni Feature: Ryan Pikunas
Ryan Pikunas, played for FC Richmond for four years, and is currently a senior at the University of Lynchburg. Ryan finished his final season as a four year starting defender and 2-time captain of his team. He racked up a record of 58-10-12, was a 2-time ODAC champion, and was a 3-time all ODAC selection.
Ryan credits FC Richmond to much of his collegiate level success by saying, “FC Richmond helped me to develop the discipline and abilities necessary to be a successful player at the collegiate level through great coaching as well as a high level of competition in the CCL.”
Ryan also coached at Jefferson Forest High School in Lynchburg at both JV and Varsity levels for the past two years, and is continuing to coach for them this spring. “Giving back to the game through coaching was a great experience, as it has been rewarding teaching players what I have learned throughout my soccer career”.

Travel News
Friendly reminders to all travel team players...
  • Your diet in the "off season" is as important as your "in season" diet. Please be smart about what you put in your body!
  • If you haven't already, get to the MAC for FCR's Winter Indoor Training on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays. Refer to the FCR website for age group specific training times.
  • Outdoor Team Training will be here before you know it so start thinking about putting some time aside to start your outdoor running and agility work. This will not only help your fitness but your injury prevention as well!
