Update
It has been said that we are a nation of laws, not a nation of men (or women). As architects, and aspiring architects, we live this every day. From what we call ourselves, to how to practice, to how we build, our world is full of rules we must follow. However, while we have all of these rules, rarely do we question their origin; as if it has always been this way. It has not. As if these are the rules everywhere. They are not. If that makes you think a little, maybe you might want to learn more. And maybe you might want to help shape the rules of the future.
One of the most important things AIAMI does is follow and influence government affairs. Our profession, like all others, has to look out for itself. Politicians, for the most part, are not architects and are ignorant about the issues and details of our profession. But that does not stop them from passing laws that affect what we do. It is for this reason that AIAMI has a Government Affairs Committee (GAC). The GAC actively follows proposed legislation, and actively crafts new legislation, to help our legislators enact laws that make sense for the architecture profession and the construction industry. Laws that reflect our commitment to having the safest buildings we can have.
At this time AIAMI and the GAC is asking that you consider helping us and serve on this important committee. And please note, emerging professionals and associates are absolutely welcomed and encouraged to contribute.

- New product supporting EPs seeking licensure. The AIA is launching a CONFIDENTIAL new product in 2018 and we are seeking registered architects to act as subject matter experts to assist with the development. Dedicated and passionate individuals who can volunteer 15-20 hours can contact the AIA Center for Emerging Professionals for more information.
- Be sure you're covered. If your component is insured by The Hartford (for fire, premises, P&C, etc.), your policy may soon be cancelled.
