The Peace Light is Coming to Slash Church
11 am worship on Christmas Eve

Each year, a child from Upper Austria fetches the light from the grotto in Bethlehem where Jesus was born. The light is carried in two blast proof miners lamps on an Austrian Airlines jet from Tel Aviv, Israel to Vienna, Austria from where it is distributed at a Service of Dedication to delegations from across Europe who take it back, with a message of Peace, to their own countries. Austrian Airlines then flies the miners lamps containing the Peace Light from Bethlehem to New York City.  The lamps in the picture then make their journey from the airport in New York all over the United States. The Markley family from Slash received the light and are bringing it here to church this Sunday.

If you would like to share the light bring your own lamp or enclosed candle to church on Sunday!

From Sunday:

This morning John the Baptist makes his second scheduled appearance of the Advent Season. But this time John comes to us from a prison cell, expressing none of the bluster and outrage we heard last week as he called the religious leaders out of line and challenged them to find a ministry.
In the eleventh chapter of Matthew John is no longer wild-eyed, assertive, confident, but rather confused, discouraged, some might even speculate depressed. No longer free to wander through the wilderness, John is now caged. And from the gloom of a prison cell we hear John's inquiry of Jesus:

En Agape',
Rev. Michael

Hat Tree

The Hat and Glove dedication was at Lebanon UMC on December 3.

The children at Lebanon laid their hands on the hats
and gloves  and helped dedicate during the prayer.
Thanks to all who donated hats and gloves for the Hanover Christmas Mother.

"Ashland At Home (AAH) is neighbors helping neighbors live in their own homes and staying engaged in our community as long as possible. AAH is based on the "village" model that is serving tens of thousands of adults across the U.S. The model, developed by neighbors living in the Beacon Hill area of Boston, provides services to support members to continue living in their homes as they age."
