" .... But in the future he will bring honor to the way of the sea, to the land east of the Jordan, and to Galilee of the nations. The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has given to us, and the government will be on his shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:1b-2, 6

When this scripture was written, the nation of Israel was at war -- and the war was not going well. In the midst of that time of anguish and despair, Isaiah prophesied that one day a baby would be born  ( read more ).

How Your Church's Giving Makes a Global Difference

IMB president David Platt shares how the generosity and partnership of Southern Baptists is fueling missions around the world. You can through your church's Lottie Moon Christmas Offering or online at  www.imb.org/lmco .
Lottie Moon: The Missionary Inspiration Behind the Offering

Well over 100 years ago, a single missionary named Lottie Moon, while serving in China, began writing letters challenging the American church to send and support more workers to go there. After her death on the field, her challenge was heeded in the formalization of an offering in her name. Even if you're not a Southern Baptist who has given to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, her life is a reminder of why we must give to send and support missionaries serving among unreached peoples in unreached places.
On Mission with God in Madrid

Jan Johnsonius is an IMB missionary in Madrid, Spain, who recently spent her stateside assignment in Augusta, Maine. Jan and thousands of others are able to serve as fully-funded missionaries around the globe, thanks to your gifts to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering and the Cooperative Program.

When we think of missions, often our minds go to the "typical" location of Africa, Asia or even South America. Yet some of the least-reached peoples in our entire world are just across the Atlantic on the continent of Europe! People that look a lot like people in New England, live a lot like people in New England and are desperately lost .... a lot like people in New England!
A Legacy of Supporting International Missions

For 172 years, Southern Baptist churches have sent missionaries to the unreached across the globe. This Christmas season, we continue that legacy by participating in the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Together we support more than 4,000 Southern Baptist missionaries that share the Gospel all over the world. Our collective giving enables these missionaries to make disciples and multiply churches among unreached peoples for the glory of God. Give through your church or online at  www.imb.org/lmco.
Walking Across the Street to Reach the World: Southern Baptists' Ministry to Immigrants and Refugees
by Joe Hoyle, Associate Pastor at New Colony Baptist Church, Billerica, MA

One of the things I love about New England is the mosaic of cultures that I encounter.  I can walk into any business or locale in my town of Billerica, Mass., and hear a myriad of languages being spoken and see a tapestry of humanity represented.  This is one of the things I appreciate about the BCNE as well.  The churches in our convention are a testament to what the Kingdom of God should look like in its diversity. The nations are indeed here in New England.
Mission Trip Excuses
by Chris James, Pastor of Mill City Church and Christian Student Fellowship, Lowell, MA

When I was growing up in the church, I viewed mission trips as the work of the varsity team -- something reserved for the spiritually elite delta force. Consequently, every time a mission opportunity presented itself, I gave every reason why it wasn't for me. And even when I did put myself out there to serve, I only did so after laboring over the decision for weeks through prayer, internal debate, and counsel.
