Does the Bible support self defense?
The recent mass shooting at Sutherland Springs Baptist Church in Texas raised a lot of security-related questions for Christians. But does the Bible say anything about self-defense? Yes, it does. And while Christians may disagree over issues ranging from gun control to church-security systems, we find considerable common ground in four biblical principles.

Going from good to better in apologetics
Jude's original intention in writing his short epistle seems to be a celebration of the common salvation believers share. But the Holy Spirit steers Jude in a different direction, and Jude thus urges his readers to earnestly contend for the faith. With that in mind, what are the doctrinal non-negotiables of Christianity? An excerpt from The Last Apologist.

Jesus as the firstborn
Jehovah's Witnesses believe Jesus is the first being created by Jehovah. This "firstborn of creation" (NWT) was Michael the Archangel, who was later recreated as Jesus the man, and finally, after his death on a torture stake and subsequent annihilation, was recreated as an exalted Michael one again. But is this what the Scriptures mean when they refer to Jesus as the "firstborn"? In a word, no.

Why is contending for the faith necessary?
Jude expresses grave concern when he exhorts his first-century readers to "contend for the faith." But what, exactly, does that mean? And how are followers of Jesus in the 21st century to defend the core doctrines of the Christian faith in the midst of widespread relativism and angry atheism?
