Get Us Moving is a diverse coalition of regional leaders, transportation experts, employers of all sizes, nonprofit groups and volunteer community members that have come to together to find a solution to San Mateo County’s complex transportation issues.

Advisory Districting Committee Meeting

The Advisory Districting Committee is responsible for recommending Menlo Park's first ever City Council district boundaries and related election sequencing.
The Committee is to submit its final recommendations to the City Clerk no later than February 23, 2018.

Spark Green 2018 Climate Action Campaign
|
The
Spark Green 2018 campaign
aims to double participation in the Menlo Green Challenge, an online program that empowers residents to take climate actions. Last year, almost 400 households signed up for the Green Challenge and they have reduced over 100 tons of carbon emissions! This year, Menlo Spark aims to double that. We’re encouraging everyone to keep taking climate actions, invite friends and neighbors to join, and get recognized with awards and prizes.

Sudanese Genocide Survivor To Speak At Kiwanis Luncheon
|
Gabriel Akim, a South Sudanese Genocide survivor, immigrated to the Bay Area in 2006 after a long, terrifying, and difficult journey, which he will relate in a talk,
“Experiencing Genocide”
, at Menlo Park’s Kiwanis Club.
Since being in the U. S., Gabriel has raised over $60,000 for South Sudanese children who attend school in Uganda. Currently, Gabriel is a justice studies major and a human rights minor at San Jose State University. He plans to use his degree to continue to work for healing among South Sudanese populations—no matter where they are on the globe.

SamTrans Seeks Volunteers for Citizens Advisory Committee
|
Public members interested in providing input on local transit programs are encouraged to volunteer for the
SamTrans Citizens Advisory Committee
(CAC).
The 15-member CAC meets monthly and is responsible for offering feedback on the needs of transit users and informing San Mateo County residents of transit programs on the Peninsula. It also acts in an advisory capacity to the SamTrans’ Board of Directors. Each CAC member receives a free yearly bus pass to use on the SamTrans system. The CAC meets on the last Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the San Mateo County Transit District headquarters at 1250 San Carlos Avenue in San Carlos.
