Breakfast with Mayor Marty Walsh
On February 5, 201, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh spoke ot over 200 NEC members at a breakfast hosted by Bank of America in Boston.  Mayor Walsh is picture here with Mary Grant, President of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate.

Financial Regulatory Reform Discussion with Sen. Angus King

2018 Annual Spring Event in Washington, DC
Register Now for Annual DC Event
Registration is now open for the Council's 2018 Annual Spring Event in Washington, DC.  The two-day event includes a Federal Policy Briefing with Trump Administration Officials, our Annual Capitol Hill Reception, a Congressional Breakfast featuring remarks from several members of Congress, and a variety of small group meetings with Congressional and federal agency officials and staff. The Annual Spring event is always a great opportunity for Council members to connect with our leaders in Washington, DC, on issues of importance to the region's economy. 
DC Dialogue on NECN
February: Credit Unions in New England; Impact of Tax Reform
The latest episode of DC Dialogue aired on NECN on Sunday, February 25, 2018.  In the first segment, Jim Brett and Eileen Curran were joined Paul Gentile, President and CEO of the Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA) and a member of the NEC Board of Directors.  Paul explained down how pending financial regulatory reform legislation will lift the burden on credit unions and other smaller banking institutions, and also shared how credit unions are combating elder financial abuse.  Later in the show, we talked with Dave DiGiusto, a Tax Partner at RSM Global, to learn more about what the recently passed tax reform bill means for businesses in New England.

Policy Committee Updates
Energy & Environment Committee
The Energy & Environment Committee met on February 28, 2018, at Holland & Knight in Boston.  The meeting included a presentation regarding the Massachusetts Coalition for Sustainable Energy, as well as a discussion of committee priorities for 2018.  For more information, please contact Sean Malone.
Financial Services Committee
The NEC Financial Services Committee met twice in February.  On February 12, committee members gathered for a 2018 planning meeting at K&L Gates in Boston to discuss priorities and initiatives for the year.  The following day, February 13, committee members had the opportunity to meet with Rep. Michael Capuano, a member of the House Financial Services Committee, for a small group discussion following a Congressional Roundtable breakfast in Boston.  For more informatin, please contact Griffin Doherty.
Technology Committee
On February 26, The New England Council wrote to the New England Congressional delegation urging them to support the CLOUD (Clarifying Lawful Overseas Use of Data) Act.  This bipartisan, bicameral legislation would make practical and effective updates to our nation's digital communications laws to reflect the rapid advances in technology in recent years.
