Here's what's new on the Nobles County 4-H website this month!
Important Fundraiser Delivery Day Information

We need your help! In order to ensure that the Fundraiser Delivery Day runs smoothly, we would appreciate families from each club volunteer for a shift the morning of pick up. 
 
When: Saturday, March 3rd, 2018  
Time: Volunteer Shifts begin at 6:15 a.m.-Done (9:15 a.m.)--- 4-H families can come pick up their items starting at 7:30-9:00 AM  
Where: Worthington Christian Church, 1501 Douglas Ave., Worthington MN 

Club Insurance to due to Office March 1st!

As a reminder for families and club leaders, 4-H Insurance is due to the Office by March 1st!



When is the March Ambassador Meeting?

Our next meeting will be held on Sunday, March 4th, 2018 at 6:30 PM in the Farmers Room. We will have a few special things on our agenda for this meeting. The communications team would like to continue their video project- which may require you to answer a few questions on camera. Please wear a 4-H shirt (an ambassador one if you have one) and be prepared for that.  
The Education/Leadership Team-- you have planned "Cup Pong" as an opening activity, and "Add one Another" as a closing/reflection. Please be ready to lead these! :) Re-look at a date for the Ambassador Fun as our last date had too many conflicts!  RSVP by March 2nd!

March Cloverbud Meeting

The March Cloverbud Meeting-- Farm Safety takes place on Tuesday, March 13th, 2018 in the Farmers Room (basement of the Government Center), the door code is 873060. The Cloverbud Meeting will take place from 6-7:15 PM.  RSVP by March 8th to the office or here.

March Advisory Board & Federation Meeting

The March Advisory Board meeting will take place on Monday, March 19th at 6 PM in the Farmers Room. 
 
At the March Federation Meeting, which will take place on Monday, March 19th at 7 PM in the Farmers Room, we will be discussing various topics in which are very important to the Nobles County 4-H program.

March Engineer It! Challenge Workshop

Come to the MARCH Engineer It! Challenge Workshop! At this workshop, you will be challenged by learning more about the six simple machines, creating machines, learning more about the Rube Goldberg machine and the Rube Goldberg Challenge offered by the Minnesota 4-H Program. This a FREE event will be held Saturday, March 24th from 9 AM-12 PM in the Farmers Room. This will be for 3rd-8th graders! A snack will be provided for participants! RSVP by Tuesday, March 20th.

What can I do in Nobles County      4-H? Bi-Monthly Emails

We have integrated a new system to send large amounts of emails for County Wide Updates and Program Information. The reason we have began using this program is that it provides an opportunity to see who's looked at our emails which were sent, and has the capability to resend to those who haven't looked at them.



LQA&E Face to Face Training-April 7th

A Face to Face Training is set for Saturday, April 7th, 2018 from 9 AM-12 PM at the Worthington Regional Offfice. Please RSVP to the office if you plan on attending. This training is free of cost, and certification is good for 3 years.

Southwest Minnesota 4-H Camp will take place in June!
Hey 4-Her's Grades 3rd-6th, mark your calendars for the 2018 4-H Camp! Camp will again be held at Shetek Lutheran Ministries Camp on Lake Shetek. Campers will choose from five exciting tracks. Tracks will fill up fast, so hurry to make sure you get your favorites. Camp is June 20-22

Andrea Ruesch Regional 4-H Scholarship Applications now being accepted
Due Date:  March 5 2018
This scholarship is for high school seniors and first-year college students currently enrolled in   4-H. Applicants must be from one of the following counties: Chippewa, Cottonwood, Jackson, Martin, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, Rock or Watonwan.

Associate dean and state 4-H director Dorothy Freeman talks about citizenship - 4-H is about growing local and global citizens. People who are skilled, competent and committed to lives of service.
 
Over the past several months, multiple 4-H teams from across Minnesota have showcased their learning at a national level - find out how!
 
New in 2018 - 4-H animal science members can participate in one of two options for Livestock Quality Assurance certification training: 1) Livestock Quality Assurance and Ethics (LQA&E) training, or 2) Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) training. All youth participating as state fair 4-H livestock exhibitors must complete Livestock Quality Assurance training requirements.
 
The AKSARBEN Stock Show will be held in Grand Island, Neb. Sept. 27-30, 2018. It's open to 4-H members from Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. In it, 4-H youth exhibit livestock, compete in quiz bowl and judging, apply for scholarships and internships to work with the AKSARBEN Stock Show.
 
Helping Hands grants helps fund worthy youth development programs or projects that young people seek to pursue in partnership with supportive adults and local businesses. Grant awards are between $200 and $2,000. Applications must be postmarked or emailed by March 1.
 
Learn about scholarships available for college-bound 4-H youth
Several scholarships are being offered for Minnesota 4-H youth pursuing post-secondary studies at accredited colleges and universities. Over $20,000 is awarded annually through a competitive application process. Visit the 4-H scholarship website to learn more and apply.
 
A 4-H dairy goat judges training is being planned for Saturday, May 19 at the Benton County Fairgrounds. Adults interested should mark their calendars now! Registration materials will be available soon -- stay tuned form more info.
 
Register by April 6 for the April 21-22 training to be held at the Long Lake Conservation Center in Palisades. This training is for Minnesota 4-H adults and youth (9th grade and older) that lead or would like to lead training in shooting sports or wildlife.
