Snow and Ice Info

Village Snow Procedures:
Village crews clear all streets, starting with main thoroughfares, then secondary streets, then residential streets and alleys. Sidewalks that abut village-owned land, such as parks and government buildings, are also clear. At times an anti-icing agent is applied to streets prior to a snow event preventing ice from bonding to the pavement.

Resident Snow and Ice Removal:
All residents and business owners are responsible for snow and ice removal from public sidewalks within 24 hours of a snow event. Please clear all corners with crosswalks; handicap accessible ramps should be cleared out side enough to accommodate a wheel chair.

Fire hydrants should be shoveled out 3 feet to allow access in the case of a fire. Residents whose property has an adjacent bus stop with concrete are requested to keep that area clear and free of ice to allow for bus patrons to safely get on and off the buses.

For more information please see the Village website at  http://www.wfbvillage.org/267/Snow-Removal

sewertelevising

The Whitefish Bay Public Works Department continues its annual public sanitary sewer main cleaning and televising that began on January 10, 2018. This work takes place annually with Village wide main cleaning and televising coverage every three years. We typically conduct this annual maintenance project during the months of January through March.

Please refer to the map below for the area of the Village that will be cleaned and televised this winter. The sanitary sewer mains in the streets that are highlighted in bold black and red are the lines that will be cleaned and televised this year. There should be no interruption of any sanitary sewer service while this work is proceeding.
If you have any questions on this program, feel free to contact Kevin Kaegi, Public Works Superintendent, at 414-962-6690 ex. 301 or [email protected].

North Shore Health Department Highlights 2/20/2018
Did You Know?

Firearm deaths, including homicides, suicides, and unintentional shootings are a prevalent cause of morbidity and mortality in the United States. Each year we lose over 30,000 people from firearm-related violence. The public health approach is focused on finding the cause to a problem and implementing preventative measures. Gun violence can be studied with the same approach by using tools such as surveillance, epidemiologic analysis, intervention design, and evaluation to develop solutions and policies to eliminate the threat. To enhance the public health approach to gun violence, advocates argue we need better data, more research, stronger policies like better criminal background checks for all firearm purchases, expanded access to mental health services, resources for school and community-based prevention, and access to gun safety technology.

What is the North Shore Health Department (NSHD) doing to prevent violence?

The NSHD is an active member of REDgen, a North Shore coalition dedicated to promoting balance and resiliency for children and teenagers.

In partnership with Mental Health America of Wisconsin (MHA) to prevent youth and adult suicide and other firearm-related violence, the NSHD distributes gun locks to police departments in the North Shore.

NSHD is also a part of the Prevent Suicide Greater Milwaukee Coalition. The coalition promotes suicide prevention by providing education, increasing awareness, and facilitating community collaboration. Reducing access to lethal means like firearms has been a focus of local and national suicide prevention groups for many years.

Determined to get him back, Elle ingeniously charms her way into the prestigious law school. While there, she struggles with peers, professors and her ex. With the support of some new friends, though, Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to fight for justice and prove herself to the world.

A fabulously fun, award-winning musical based on the adored movie, Legally Blonde The Musical follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams.
