South Florida Region Training Forum: Mass Care and Logistics for Red Cross Volunteers

Disaster Cycle Services will be hosting a series of courses, including National Updates in an effort to strengthen our growing team. This past Hurricane Season was unexpected and triggered a need. Racial Equity Institute: Workshop
The workshop will provide the basis for understanding and addressing racism and its history along with tools for future discussions to proactively work toward dismantling racism. This workshop is funded by Palm Healthcare.
Participants must commit to both days of the Two-Day workshop designed to help community members and organizational leaders to understand and address racism, both in their organizations and in the community. This workshop is only for people who work, live, or have great interest in advocating for the health of Belle Glade, Pahokee, South Bay, and surrounding areas.

Informational Material Regarding Florida Medicaid Threat
From FL Voices for Health: "Over halfway done with the current legislative session, a serious threat to Florida Medicaid has emerged. The Florida Senate introduced a proposal to reduce Medicaid retroactive eligibility from 90 to 30 days. If a person is uninsured and has an accident or falls seriously ill, there's a chance, in Florida, to enroll for Medicaid after the fact. If you qualify for Medicaid, the program will pay your medical bills going back three months ... Advocacy on this issue will be critical over the next few weeks. TPS Termination Haiti and El Salvador
Reminder: The Federal government has released the official notices for termination of TPS for Haiti and El Salvador. Both have a FINAL 18-month extension, which runs for 60 days from January 18, 2018 through
March 19, 2018. Current TPS recipients who do not re-register within the 60 days may be subject to removal.
