Jump Rope for Heart!
Hello Families! Our school is proud to partner with the American Heart Association with Jump Rope For Heart. Over the next few weeks, our students will be having fun learning about their heart with the Scare Squad while raising money to help fund lifesaving research. Our school goal is to raise $3,500 (saving 70 lives), and in addition to helping the American Heart Association, our school will earn free PE equipment. Students can earn their own Scare Squad Monsters this year by using our new mobile app (download the Jump/Hoops App ( App Store for iPhone or  Google Play for Android) or by visiting  http://www2.heart.org/goto/lyonRepublic to sign up and raise money online! Just for signing up to save lives, your students will earn a glow in the dark wristband! PLUS this year, the mobile app unlocks even more fun and the Scare Squad Monsters and wristband come to life! All donations are due on Friday, March 9th. Thank you for helping a great cause!
School Goal Update

Office Discipline  Referrals (ODR): Lyon saw a drastic decrease in January office discipline.  This can be contributed partly due to snow days.  The PBIS action team is working to create a process to identify problem behaviors or locations and create solutions that might reduce unwanted behaviors.  The target behavior identified was defiance and disrespect as the main concern last month.  Teachers are reteaching hallway and transition behaviors and continuing to model ways to be respectful.

Monthly Attendance Update:  Lyon continues to monitor attendance monthly, celebrating at both the classroom and building level.  Lyon reached the highest January attendance in 3 years.  Our counselors and special class teachers will continue to identify students not meeting the goal of 90% attendance, buddying up with them and encouraging them to arrive each day on time, ready to learn.
