Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Centerat the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has once again been recognized as a Cancer Center of Excellence by the State of Florida - one of just four cancer centers in the state, and the only one in South Florida, to have earned this honor. The Cancer Center of Excellence designation recognizes providers that exceed service standards and excel in providing quality, comprehensive and patient-centered, coordinated care for cancer patients in Florida. Among the goals are to attract and retain the best cancer care providers to the state, and to help Florida be recognized nationally as a preferred destination for quality cancer care.

Kevin Marsh, RN has again been recognized for striving to make a difference one patient at a time. Kevin, a nurse at Florida Medical Center located in central Broward County, has won his second DAISY Award. "We congratulate Kevin for being a multiple DAISY award honoree," said Trey Abshier, CEO of Florida Medical Center. "He is selfless, friendly nurse who is constantly striving to learn and is an example to his colleagues." The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses is a special program that recognizes the outstanding deeds nurses perform every day. It was created by the DAISY Foundation, which was founded in memory of J. Patrick Barnes by his parents after they experienced firsthand the compassion and care of their son's nurses.
