GOING DEEPER! SERMON BASED DISCUSSION: JESUS' LAST WORDS
CONTINUING WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 28 @ 7PM IN THE PARLOR!
Have you ever left Sunday worship with questions? Feeling a need to know more? The purpose behind sermon-based small group discussion is to build community together while focusing on the previous Sunday’s sermon. But its more than just a rehash of the sermon; the goal is to take the main point from the sermon and dig deeper into scripture and it's application in our everyday lives. Throughout the season of Lent, you are invited to join the discussion every Wednesday at 7PM at the church. Discussion guides will be provided each week to help you discern what the message is saying to you. Missed the sermon on Sunday? Just take a few minutes to listen online before joining the group. Childcare provided in Preschool Room, #E202.

Sunday, February 25, 2018 - JESUS' LAST WORDS
Beginnings and endings are memorable moments in life. We remember our children’s first words and our parents last words. We celebrate first days at school and our accomplishments at graduation. We experience joy in a baby’s birth at Christmas and hope through his death and resurrection at Easter. This year during Lent we will focus on the final, memorable words of Christ, as experienced by those near the cross. Each week we will reflect on these seven statements and seek to understand their meaning for our lives today. Join us on a journey to the empty tomb as we explore Jesus’ Last Words.

COFFEE WITH THE PASTOR STARTS THIS SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 25!
For Inquirers & those considering Membership to Wayne Church, Sundays, February 25, March 4 & 11 @ NOON in the Upper Room. There are few greater joys in the life of the church than receiving new members. Wayne Church will be adding to our church family in the coming months. Our new member class will gather after worship for three Sundays. This time together is designed to get to know the Pastor, explore personal faith, Methodism, and how we seek to express these beliefs here at Wayne. If you wish to explore the possibility of membership or wish to attend and learn more about the church, please email Pastor Tom. Childcare will be provided in Preschool Room, #E202. The Upper Room is located on the 2nd floor of the Admin building. Signs will be posted.
NEW IDEAS FOR ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL & PARLOR!
Our Adult Sunday School team is in the process of updating our Sunday 9:15 offerings AND creating a new Connections activity in our Parlor.   You may have started to see a few changes this past Sunday, and these will continue slowly at first and then build after Easter, so stay tuned!
Here are initial  details:   Our adult 'classes' will be moved to our education rooms and may take a pause while we create new ways of connecting  and identify new facilitators and topics of interest.   In the long run we hope to have several adult Sunday classes gathering independently and self-sufficiently as small groups in our church.   The initial changes you will  see  represent the beginning of this longer term vision.

Secondly, a 'coffeehouse' of sorts  will be  coming to the parlor.   Here, our open doors and laid-back hospitality can be a starting point for adults to gather, build relationships, and become engaged in the life of our church.   This will help us welcome the many  folks who have children in Sunday School or Confirmation class who do not participate in Worship or Sunday School themselves, and provide a welcoming space where they can gather and get to know each other.   This space can also be a Sunday morning destination for impromptu meetings over coffee and together time.   At this point our church does not offer this space or activity until after the 10:30  a.m. service.

Finally, part of the changes will include  new names for both 'the parlor' and 'Adult Sunday school;' these will put a new face on some exciting changes here at Wayne Church.   As we create a clearer vision for these next steps, we will keep you posted.

WOMEN'S EVENING BIBLE STUDY CONTINUES FEBRUARY 27!
6-week study of Ruth with the book, A Woman Who Doesn't Quit: 5 Habits from the Book of Ruth by Nicki Koziarz.

OVERVIEW :
Have you ever gotten to the place where you just couldn’t take it anymore? Dreams. Programs. Jobs. Relationships. There are so many different areas where we feel like calling it quits. It’s time for an honest conversation on how not to give in to the temptation to give up. Nicki Koziarz is a woman who has thrown in the towel a time or two. In fact, she’s quit just about everything in her life. But with God’s help, she’s discovered a few habits that have helped her and others conquer the choice to quit. Then there is Ruth. She is much more than   a Bible   story and through her life we uncover five life-giving habits that help us to persevere when things get hard, complicated, and messy. But these habits do more than just motivate, they help us to fight when resistance arises. They teach us to pursue discipline and the desire to determine our daily direction. These habits show how success is not achieved by pursuing temporary desires. The direction of our lives needs to be far less about to-do lists and accomplishments. And instead focus on becoming the people God can count on.

5 Habits of a Woman Who Doesn’t Quit   will enable you to:
  • Evaluate the internal personal struggles that make you want to quit.
  • Cultivate consistent habits to help you progress toward your goals.
  • Receive a fresh dose of perspective from the Bible that will help you develop perseverance.

You are not made to quit! Join Nicki as she identifies five habits to help you keep going no matter what struggles may come your way.

HOW : There is a Bible study version AND a regular paperback version.   The Bible study version will have the questions included. $12.00 at Lifeway.com .   $14 at Amazon.com   $10 at BarnesandNoble.com (this is the paperback book, not the Bible study book-used versions available).
