Stronger together... we lift each other up. We are SERRASTRONG!
And let us consider how to lift up one another, to love and good works
- Hebrews 10:24

A MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT TRUDELL
IN OUR PRAYERS
We offer our continued prayers for those who were so tragically impacted by the recent events at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. We at St. Serra are dedicated to the safety and well-being of every child. Please watch for a letter from me addressing safety on our campus.

NATIONAL EVANGELIZATION TEAM (NET) IS COMING TO SERRA!
Another first at St. Junipero Serra Catholic will occur next week as NET Ministries descends upon St. Serra on  Wednesday, February 28 , to host the annual 6th-grade Retreat, "Heroic 40 Lent".

NET is a ministry of young Catholics who love Christ and embrace the life of the Church. Every August, 175 young Catholics ages 18-28 leave behind their jobs, school, family, and friends to devote nine months to serving with the National Evangelization Teams (NET). Next week we are honored to host 12 team members.

Thank you to our host families who will be housing these young adults for an overnight stay. We are still in need of a host family that has a hypoallergenic home for one of our leaders who is allergic to animals. We also could use a few more families from any grade level to support the current families and staff who have graciously offered to host. If you wish to host please contact Debbie McGee at ext 190 or [email protected] by tomorrow, Friday, February 23.

We know your children will be stronger in their faith as they witness this team p roclaim the Gospel of Christ through a personal witness of faith.
FIRST GRADE IS STEAM-MINDED THIS LENT!
When planning their project for STEAM Night this year, 1st-grade students and teachers wanted their project to not only be a learning experience but also raise money for the Missionary Childhood Association. They decided to make and sell rosaries during Lent to raise money for MCA. The students will be using all of the disciplines of STEAM to create the rosaries, including technology, as they are creating a commercial which will be aired on SerraVision on February 27 and 28. Rosaries will be on sale for 50 cents at morning recess on Wednesday, February 28 and Thursday, March 1. The rosaries will also be displayed at STEAM Night on March 13.  We are so proud of our 1st-grade students for their big hearts and bright minds!

Carpooling grandparents and children is highly encouraged.

There will be NO PARKING in the Memorial Care Medical Group lot. Also, "preferred" handicapped parking spaces that were reserved through the registration process will only be guaranteed until 8:00 a.m. After that time, we will open those spots for general parking.

Day's agenda:
7:15 - 8:30 a.m.     Drop-off, Check-in and Hospitality
8:30 - 9:15 a.m.     Prayer Service with a Choir and Handbell Performance
9:15 - 11:15 a.m.   Guests Visit Classrooms
11:15 a.m.             Dismissal Begins

We look forward to welcoming all of our guests next Friday!

During this Lenten season, let us try to model St. Mother Teresa. She saw and lived among the most tragic of situations in our world and most likely had many problems to deal with, yet she modeled Christ's love with her great joy towards others and never complained. How can we be that model of gratitude for Christ's love and sacrifice while dealing with our own challenges?
