OFFICE HOURS
7:00-3:30 P.M.
Buzzer Entry System

As we continue to improve school safety for our students, we would like to make you aware of a new safety measure coming to our school.

A Buzzer Entry System is being installed in every Boone County school building. This will allow visitors to be identified by the school, before they are permitted to enter the main office. The Buzzer Entry System is an added layer of security in addition to our School Resource Officer partnership with the Boone County Sheriff's office.

The Buzzer Entry System will be operational at the start of the new 2018-2019 school year.  This additional safety feature enhances safety for the visitor as well as our students and staff.  As we strive to continually enhance our school safety, we would ask that you please call ahead to alert our office staff that you are coming so they will be expecting you.  A photo id will still be required once you enter our main office.

Thank you for your support and understanding in helping us secure our schools for our children and staff.

Bus Route Rehearsal

Boone County Schools is helping to prepare parents, students, and the community-at-large with a dry run of the BC school bus routes! The "rehearsal" or mock run will happen on Monday, August 13. All buses will be driving the exact routes.  This will give our transportation department to correct/tweak things prior to the first day of school on Wednesday, August 15.

Families can check bus information on AUGUST 3 or after by visiting the Boone County Schools website or click here.  The bus route details are currently down until August 3rd for the transportation department finalize bus routes.

College&Career Coach

Our College and Career Readiness Coach, Dr. Jennifer Warford will be working with the majority of the seniors as well as all other grades in regards to planning and providing college and career opportunities throughout the school year.  If your student would prefer to remain with their current counselor  for their senior year (Hinton: A-G, Vickers: H-O, Guthrie: P-Z), please  sign up here.

We have two new to Cooper counselors.  Ms. Vickers (H-O) and Ms Guthrie (P-Z) has both counseling experience and high school experience.

This request will be on a first come, first served basis, with a cap of 30 for each counselor. In the event a counselor doesn't reach the cap, we will randomly assign students to reach 30 per counselor.  The deadline to request to remain with your current counselor will be September 1st or until the cap is reached, whichever comes first.
Dress Code

With educating young people our priority it is our expectation that high school students dress appropriately. No form of clothing or personal appearance will be allowed to interfere with the educational process or environment. School authorities may limit or prohibit any type or style of student dress, personal appearance or use of apparel, which, in the judgement of school officials, is deemed to create a disruption of the educational process or environment, including clothing that fits in an appropriate manner.

The following attire is appropriate: 
  • Pants or jeans of the appropriate size and length which do not drag on the floor or expose undergarments.
  • Holes or frays in jeans below the knee only, and any leggings must be without sheer or mesh panels above the knee.
  • Shirts/blouses, sweatshirts, or t-shirts which do not display vulgar, profane, sexually explicit or implied meanings, double meanings, alcohol, tobacco or drugs, racially inappropriate items, items that reference violence (any weapons), or any other items deemed to be offensive by the faculty, staff, or administration.
  • Shorts worn correctly that are knee-length and without holes or tears. 
  • Skirts/dresses (must be knee-length) even if worn with leggings or tights.

Camp Jaguar

Camp Jaguar for our incoming freshmen has been set for Friday, August 10th from 8:00-12:00 noon.

This will be a great day for your freshman student to feel more comfortable about high school, build friendships, find their classes, open their locker, opportunities to get involved and many other essential things to make the transition to Cooper as smooth as possible!  Students are paired with their Freshman Mentoring Group and Leader.  This group will be together throughout the school year during J.A.M. (Jaguar Achievement & Mentoring) time.

Please take a moment to register your freshman student at the link below so we can adequately plan for those attending.  Students receive a free t-shirt as well as lunch.

In order to guarantee the correct t-shirt size, we need freshman students registered using the link below no later than Monday, July 23rd.

First Day of School

The first day of school for students is Wednesday, August 15th.  Please make note of this date.  We look forward to another great school year here at Cooper.  It's hard to believe this will begin our 11th year!   We are busy preparing in anticipation of the first day of school!

Senior Portraits

Parents of seniors...let's make sure that your senior student is in our yearbook.
The deadline for seniors to have their picture taken to be in our yearbook is November 15, 2018.   For more information, click here

Golf Outing

The Boone County Businessman's Association is proud to partner with Boone County Schools for our 18th Annual Golf Outing.

Benefits from this outing will support the Businessman's efforts to provide winter coats, hats and gloves to students in the school district who are in need and to support Boone County Schools Alternative Services Program.
This program includes the Drop-In Academy, Transition to High School, Transition to Life and Behavior Academy.

We would like a few foursomes representing Cooper HS at this great event!   Let Mr. Wilson know if you plan on participating.

Background Check

Parents and extended families members that would like to chaperon or volunteer at the school for any event will need a background check completed each school year.   The cost is $10 and checks should be made payable to Cooper High School.

Summer Assignments

All students have a recommended summer assignment connected with their English class.  There may be additional assignments associated with honors and/or AP courses.   For more information and details, visit our website or click here.

***If your child has signed up for honors and/or AP courses,  we can guarantee they are in these courses unless one of our counselors have contacted you.

Student Drivers

For students that are interested in driving to school, Click here to open our parking policy and requirements.   A driver's license is required to purchase a parking permit.  There are plenty of parking spots for students to purchase throughout the school year as they get their license. If you meet the requirements, please fill out the areas on the parking form and turn in during our payment of fees and schedule-up day on Tuesday, August 7th.

Parking across the street on Kroth Lane and in the Alson Place subdivision is strictly prohibited.  A new county ordinance restricts on-street parking from 8:00-3:00 p.m. during school days.

We will have designated areas for each grade level with seniors have parking spaces closest, juniors next and then sophomores.
