ICI Fall Conference:  Keynote Speaker & Awards Ceremony Videos Now Available

Industry Pioneer Edgar Gotthold Remembered
The Investment Casting Institute is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Edgar Gotthold.   A German immigrant who came to the United States at age 15, Edgar Gotthold was an industry pioneer in the development of high-property aluminum castings.   He was president of Tec-Cast, an aluminum investment casting foundry in Carlstadt, NJ.   Read Edgar's journey in the December issue of INCAST.   Edgar Gotthold

Industry News:  Vacuum Inert Gas Atomizers Ordered From Consarc Corp.
Consarc Corporation, an Inductotherm Group Company, has been awarded a contract for the turnkey installation of a 2000 lb Vacuum Inert Gas Atomizing (VIGA) Furnace from a major manufacturer of vacuum atomized powders.  The VIGA furnace will use Atomising System Limited (ASL) nozzles and proprietary Anti-Satellite Technology, as well as High Temperature Gas Delivery System.  The combination of Consarc melting and ASL atomizing technology will provide the highest available powder production yields.  Details are in the December issue of  INCAST .  Consarc Corp.
Building The Future: A Campaign to Sustain & Grow the FEF Metalcasting Educational Support Fund
Educational excellence, fulfillment of industry needs, and creative partnerships are important pieces of the FEF vision for the future.  This vision relies on the metalcasting industry to support development of young talent that are the future of our industry.  Shaping this future requires innovative solutions and creative choices.  Foundry Educational Foundation (FEF) and Pittsburg State University have developed a campaign to sustain and grow the Pittsburg State Support Fund, held by FEF.   Get the details in the December issue of  INCAST .  Building the Future
Students Get "Hands On" Exposure to the Investment Casting Industry
Yamaha Marine Precision opened their doors and held a "Manufacturing Day."  Visiting students had a chance to build a part and pour metal.  Staff was also on hand to answer questions about the investment casting process.  Read more in the December issue of INCAST.   Hands On

Legal Ease:  What Every Supervisor Should Know
It should come as no surprise to most employers that today's workplace has come to be regarded as the most regulated place in America.  It is so because of one simple fact.  The federal government, state government, and even local entities, such as cities, can and do issue workplace rules and regulations that require employers to do or not do a myriad of things.  How is a supervisor or manager to know what actions may fall under the protection of one or more of the numerous workplace laws unless they are properly trained?  In today's litigious environment, it is imperative that appropriate legal issues training be included in every employer's preventative maintenance regimen.
