Marquette Catholic High School is pleased to announce it has added five highly-credentialed educators to its teaching roster for the 2018-19 academic year. Principal Allyson Headd confirmed the hiring of Kristen Edson, Meghan Harte, Colleen Meyer, Theresa Strole, and Angie Williams on Monday. Edson, Harte, Meyer, and Williams will serve on a full-time basis while Strole joins Marquette as a part-time instructor.
"Marquette has truly elevated its profile with the addition of Kristen, Meghan, Colleen, Theresa, and Angie. These five women are exceptional and accomplished educators that care deeply about students. I'm excited for our students to work with them in achieving their academic goals," Headd remarked.
Edson, who touts seven years of teaching experience, will teach upper-level mathematics. She earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Saint Mary's College before acquiring two masters' degrees: one in secondary education (mathematics) from Ball State University, and another in data science from Saint Mary's College. Edson had taught mathematics at St. Stanislaus Kostka School for the previous five years. Her first teaching stint came at Michigan City High School from 2011-2013.
Harte arrives at Marquette with a resume that has the makings of a rising star in the education field. A native of the Chicago area, Harte graduated from John Carroll University this past May with a bachelor of arts degree in education (mathematics and social studies). She will inherit all algebra courses at Marquette in addition to her role as assistant volleyball coach. Harte served as captain for three seasons on John Carroll's lacrosse team. In addition to her success on the field, she was the recipient of the Senior Huck Award, an accolade that is bestowed upon only one graduating senior for his/her excellence in student teaching. Harte was named to the Dean's List seven times and spent one term studying abroad in London.
A familiar face within the Diocese, Meyer has been active in several capacities at Notre Dame Elementary School since 2016 and is a Marquette alumna. She will oversee Marquette's business program. Additionally, she has been named the head girls' golf coach. Meyer obtained a B.S. in business and marketing from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University in 2003 before earning a master's degree in education from DePaul University in 2006. She possesses 10 years of teaching experience: nine at Mark TwainElementary School in Chicago, and one at Barker Middle School. Meyer is currently pursuing an MBA.
Williams, who oversaw the opening of La Terrazza Deli last year, returns to the classroom as a full-time French teacher. She owns five years of teaching experience at Catholic schools in Cincinnati, Ohio. Williams possesses a bachelor's degree in secondary education (French) from Indiana University and a master's in reading education from Xavier.
Strole joins Marquette as a part-time geometry teacher. She was awarded a bachelor's degree in mathematics education from Purdue University. Following her time in West Lafayette, Strole accumulated seven years of teaching experience.
