Williamston Chamber to Offer Cash Scholarship to
Williamston High School Senior
The Williamston Area Chamber of Commerce will be awarding a $500 cash scholarship to a member of the 2017-2018 Williamston High School graduating class.
To be considered eligible for the Williamston Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship:
A) Student must be a member of the 2017-2018 Williamston High School graduating class
B) Student must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
C) Student must submit this application with a completed essay based on the Essay Topic

The Williamston United Methodist Church annual "pasty bake" will take place on February 15, 16, & 17.
We are selling Turkey Pasties, Beef Pasties, and Vegetarian Pasties
Onion may be omitted, if desired
Cost is $6 each
This recipe was brought over from Sweden in the early 1900's to the Upper Peninsula by one of our member's grandmother.
The pasties are partially baked and frozen.

Friends of Williamston Parks
to Hold Euchre Fundraiser Feb. 23
The Friends of Williamston Parks (FOWP) invites the public to have fun playing euchre and support area park improvements on Friday, Feb. 23 at the Eagles, 835 High St. in Williamston. Buy-in for the euchre tournament begins at 6 p.m. and play starts at 7 p.m. The cost is $10 per person.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase from the Eagles. The event will feature a 50-50 drawing and other prizes. For more information about the Feb. 23 event, contact Teri Nelson at 517-655-1034.
The Friends of Williamston Parks began in 2015, and recently has been focusing on raising money for a new playground at Volunteers Community Park, the city park located on the corner of Putnam and School streets next to The Commons. Self-help books and on-line art tutorials not working? This class is the "next step" in learning basic watercolor techniques with a live working artist/instructor. References, sketches, written instructions, in-class demonstrations and gentle critique when asked. The class is a positive fun way to learn in a relaxed atmosphere. Serious Beginner's Watercolors (level 2/3)
Thursday afternoons 1:00-3:00pm

(Some previous painting experience any media helpful. This is not a Basic Beginners or Serious Beginner's level 1 class.)
Spring in Watercolors, What could be more fun on a dreary afternoon? This class has a spring theme while learning about color mixing and texture techniques. References, sketches, written instructions, in-class demonstrations, and gentle critique and individual discussion upon request. More fun with Watercolor! Supply list provided upon request.
All watercolor classes are held in the Upstairs Commons Area of Keller's Plaza. Not handicap accessible, but a helping hand available going up/down stairs. Free parking on streets and city parking lots.

Free Basic Computer Class for Seniors
- Thanks for a grant from the Capital Area Community Foundation we will be conducting two free computer classes in February for seniors. The first one will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and the second one will be on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. During both these sessions we will conduct an open computer activity in which you can bring your I-pads, lap tops, phones and we will provide assistance on their use.

Williamston Schools Foundation News
The Williamston Schools Foundation will draw three lucky winners for its annual Education Wins! Raffle on Feb. 23, 2018, during the last home basketball game vs. Portland. Tickets are $50 each with prizes of $5,000, $2,000 and $1,000 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. Tickets are available from WSF Trustees (see
www.williamstonschoolsfoudnation.org for a list) and at home basketball games beginning in late December. All raffle proceeds directly fund teacher grants that enhance education at Williamston Community Schools.
The foundation is also looking for a new treasurer to help us enrich the quality of the educational experience for the children of WCS. The WSF board meets quarterly at the Central Office. Interested candidates please contact Amanda Frattarelli, WSF Coordinator, at
