Dear St. George families,

Advent - We Prepare for Christ's Birth
"Lord, you are the Light of all nations.
You are our hope and our peace.
As we wait for the bright promise of Christmas,
may we remember all the great promises,
that you have made to your people.
You have fed us and clothed us in your Light,
and you have taught us to expect the miracle
of your love to fill the universe.
May we never forget your promises
and may we always trust in you.
Amen.

What is the promise to which this prayer references?  "As we wait for the bright promise of Christmas, may we remember all the great promises...You have taught us to expect the miracle of your love to fill the universe."  How does this happen?  Jesus surely is the promise, and in the world...today...we are that promise.  We are the ones to fill the universe with love! Jesus fulfills this promise through us.  We pray that we can be our best selves, in order to fulfill this promise!

The students will hear the message of this prayer spoken in the classrooms during morning assembly, and in our weekly prayers  surrounding the Advent Wreath.  How we prepare for Christmas during Advent will determine how we approach our Christmas morning. Will we be in a dither over the presents?   Or will we pause and be aware of the other "presents" - the presence of Jesus in us and among us.  Jesus' birth calls us to a renewed awareness of how we can offer love to the world!  I pray that these last three weeks of Advent call us to slow down, be intentional and loving, and in so doing help discover and further build the Kingdom of God.

St. George pray for us!

ST. GEORGE SCHOOL ALUMNUS NEWS
St. George School is proud to recognize  Staci Duhe' as our 2017-18 Distinguished Graduate.
Staci graduated from St. George in 1977. She is married to Craig Duhe' and they have 3 children, Steven (wife Sydney Evans), William and Sydney.
As a parent of St. George students, Staci was very active: room mom, soccer, t-ball and volleyball coach, and fair committee member where she created the booth sponsorship program. As a St. George parishioner, Staci served as Eucharistic Minister, confirmation leader and vacation bible school teacher.
Aside from her family and helping her brother, Sloan, and others in need of healthcare services, what gives Staci the greatest joy is her involvement with the Knock Knock Children's Museum. To be a part of a dynamic team of volunteers, faithfully willing to spend 14 years in building a place for our community families to come together, 'Learning Through Play', and creating lifelong memories is an accomplishment she will be forever grateful for and truly blessed by.
Staci will be recognized at the Diocesan Distinguished Graduates Dinner on January 29th. Congratulations Staci!
