A HANUKKAH MESSAGE

INSIGHTS FOR THE
NIGHTS OF HANUKKAH

(1) The Miracle of Nature
Take a moment to reflect on the miracle of nature, and thank God out loud for one of the "ordinary" blessings in your life.

(2) Focus on the Right Values
Demonstrate that you value spirituality over physicality by complimenting a friend on a good character trait they posses, or on a mitzvah they have done.

(3) Rededication: Renewed Commitment
What were your New Years' resolutions for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur? Take a moment to reflect on how your resolutions are going - why or why not your plans have been successful. Then either come up with a new plan or rededicate yourself to your commitments.

(4) All Strength is from God
What areas of your life do you take pride in? Your brains? Your talents? Your job? Your good looks? Recognize that each of these are gifts from God, and we cannot take credit for them on our own.

(5) Spread the Light of Torah to Others
Today, share a Torah insight with a friend or family member, or tell them about one of the blessings you enjoy in your life.

(6) Do Mitzvos with Enthusiasm
Do one good deed today with enthusiasm and a smile.

(7) God Loves the Jewish People
Demonstrate your own love for the Jewish people by offering a smile, a kind word, or a helping hand to a fellow Jew.

Norma & Martin Hochman's home is lit up for Hanukkah

(8) Keep Torah Learning Going Strong
Set aside 5-10 minutes today to study Torah or share a Torah thought with friends or family.

TRAVEL TO ISRAEL WITH THE JCC OF LBI

The JCC trip to Israel will take place October 7-18, 2018. The itinerary will take us from Tel Aviv to the Golan Heights, to a winery, to the Kineret, to a Kibbutz, to Sefad, to Jerusalem, to the Dead Sea, to Massada, to many museums, and more. At Massada we will be sharing in a bar mitzvah of one of our fellow travelers. What joy!

From the Rabbi -

Folks:
I am attaching a revised itinerary.  You will note that on free evenings we will be provided with information on concerts or cultural events in the places where we will be.  It is too early now to know what will be happening, but the tour company (ITC) will provide information once it is known.

The hotel difference of 300 dollars per person may or may not be significant to you.  Check the websites of the hotels for an idea of the differences.  The tour company tells us that the hotels are all very nice. Rooms may be smaller and there may be less amenities.  Breakfast is provided at each hotel, but may be more elaborate at the higher priced hotels.

The tour is officially flying El Al; however, if you want to fly United, I believe that ITC can make arrangements.

The trip will be meaningful and fun!

L'Shalom - Rabbi
