Book of the Month:
Farmer George Plants a Nation
By: Peggy Thomas
Grades: 3rd - 5th
A very accurate account of the contributions of George Washington. In addition to being a general and the first president of the United States, he also made contributions to agriculture. He had a self-sufficient farm in Mount Vernon, Virginia. The book includes excerpts from Washington’s writings, a timeline, resource section, and essays on his thoughts on slavery.

Enhance student learning with our new Literature Guide. Students use cause and effect cards to describe the relationships between events and ideas in this informational text.
