Dear Colleagues:

What an exciting winter holiday it is turning out to be for nearly 50 of our staff and faculty members. In preparation for the demolition of one part of Postle Hall next spring, they will all move into new quarters starting next Thursday.

Some will have their new offices in Hamilton Hall, which is just across the courtyard, while others will be relocated to spaces within Postle Hall. The staff and faculty who are finding new office spaces in Postle are those who need to remain conveniently accessible to our students, such as the Office of Admissions and our Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. The groups that will move to Hamilton Hall are those that support the entire college, including the Offices of Marketing and Communications, Continuing Education, Building Services, Information Technology, Business and Finance, Development and Alumni Affairs, and the Office of the Dean.

Although our new offices will be quite different for those of us who are moving to Hamilton, it is interesting to know that we are actually moving back to our school's original location. Yes, almost 100 years ago the College of Dentistry was housed in the exact spot we are moving into -- the north wing of Hamilton Hall. This may bring back fond memories for our alumni who spent some of their dental school years there. I know it is already making me feel welcome and "at home."

This move is the first substantive step in our plans for the partial replacement of Postle Hall. The fact that we are relocating so many staff and faculty members shows everyone in the college that "we're on our way." It is also the first of many in a long series of milestones that will get us to our ultimate goal -- a new, state-of-the-art facility that will better serve our patients, support the needs of our students, staff, and faculty, and make our alumni proud.

How exciting it is to close out 2017 with such good news.

My very best wishes to all of you for the happiest of holidays!
