Committee Update

Greetings SACSA members -
And just like that, it is February! 2018 greeted many of us in the region with weather-related challenges causing closures and delays. Sometimes these days mean relaxing, sometimes they mean ensuring everyone on campuses are safe, and sometimes they mean SACSAtime!

Each month you'll hear from different members of the Executive Council (EC) who will share what's happening in their areas to help move SACSA forward. As the Vice President of Marketing and Outreach, I'd like to introduce you to this area's outstanding group of volunteers, and what we have been working on since the conference to improve your member experience.

Marketing and Outreach - Chaired by Jackie Clark and her amazing team of Erin Layton and Danielle Vitale, this area has brought a new look to the SACSAlert which aligns with the organization's new branding. Additionally, there are ways to preview what's in each edition, so you can jump to content that is relevant to you and your interests. Opportunities to engage on all social media platforms exist and will continue to be robust with content that aligns with the SACSAlert to ensure members don't miss out on exciting things occurring in the association and the field.

Membership and Recruitment - As Chair, Kathy Meyer, is working with a group of graduate students to begin featuring member profiles within the association through the SACSAlert and social media. The first member feature will introduce you volunteers, why they give of their time to SACSA and how SACSA helps them develop as a professional. The second feature will let you meet members benefitting from SACSA through grants or who have been recognized by SACSA for their accomplishments and how they plan to make further impacts on the profession. Stay tuned for these must-see features.

Website and Technology - Chaired by Josh McKee, we are building on the momentum created by previous Webmaster, Zach Blackmon, and previous VP of Marketing and Outreach, Matt Clifford, to bring you the association's new website! We hope you'll see our efforts to streamline relevant and updated content as you check out what's available to you as members of the association. We encourage you to keep your profiles updated, participate in the association's Communities of Engagement, read the College Student Affairs Journal, and remain updated on upcoming professional development opportunities.

Communities of Engagement - As Chair, Alicia Golston is connecting with the COE facilitators to kick off virtual conversations and COE Live events around important topics related to our work. Stay tuned for details.

If you would like to submit content for the SACSAlert or website, our areas have created easy-to-use forms that gives our team what we need to get your information to members.

The EC hopes you have saved-the-date to join together in Myrtle Beach, SC from November 3rd to the 5th for the 2018 annual conference. The EC is checking out the venue at our mid-year meeting from February 7th to the 9th and sends their best to all of our member, as we all continue to support our students and make a different on our respective campuses.

Yours in Excellence from the Marketing and Outreach Team

Giving to the SACSA Foundation

SACSA has a long tradition of providing outstanding professional development and opportunities for learning. Our foundation was created with the purpose of ensuring the future of the organization and the quality of services, programs, and activities provided.

Here are 5 reasons you should consider giving to the SACSA Foundation:
  1. Giving is a visible and public commitment of your SACSA support and our future
  2. Giving is contagious. Seeing your donations will spark others to donate
  3. Giving allows you to qualify for a tax deduction as SACSA is an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit organization
  4. Giving reflects the positive experiences you have had as a SACSA member
  5. Giving make you feel better and happier
Every donation matters. Most of our gifts are under $50.
