Great news! The Nevada Builders Women's Council has awarded scholarships to four Nevada community college construction students. A special thank you to everyone who has supported the council in it's fundraising efforts. All money raised at the pancake breakfast and 50/50 raffles goes directly to our scholarship fund. We couldn't do it without our terrific members!

On September 28, BuildNV held the 2nd Annual Northern Nevada Construction Career Day. It was a huge success and now you can see for yourself:  click HERE to watch the video and consider getting involved next year!

Cold Stress
Colder temperatures are upon us again as winter weather blows in. Anyone working in a cold environment may be at risk of cold stress. Some workers may be required to work outdoors in cold environments and for extended periods of time. Workers that perform snow removal, holiday light installation, and construction workers to name a few, can encounter very cold work environments. Knowing how to recognize cold stress can make all the difference in keeping your employees safe.
A cold environment forces the body to work harder to maintain its normal temperature. Wind speeds can also play a large factor in the loss of body heat. As the wind speeds increase the loss of safe body temperature also increases.
There are several risk factors that contribute to cold stress that you should be aware of, and symptoms you should watch for. Existing health conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and poor physical condition are often over looked factors that increase complications with cold stress. The safety professionals at PGM Safety Services, an affiliate of Pro Group management is available to assist you. Contact your safety specialist or call 1 (800) 859-3177 and let us help you recognize and prevent cold stress related issues today.
