EBCBOR Recognized at Triple Play!
The Eastern Bergen County Board of REALTORS was recognized at the 2017 NJ Realtors Awards Ceremony this past Tuesday, December 5th at the Triple Play Convention. Basil Singh was honored and presented with a plaque as the 2017 EBCBOR REALTOR of the Year. Jennifer Mejia, Communications Coordinator accepted the 2017 NJ REALTORS Member Communications Award for best social media on behalf of EBCBOR.

Over 100 EBCBOR members attended the 2017 Triple Play Convention in AC to take advantage of the CE classes and workshops, as well as to network with colleagues and industry professionals.

More Owners Tap Equity for Winter Remodels
Homeowners wanting to spruce up their homes before the holidays or make some retrofits heading into the harsher winter months are turning to their home equity to pay for renovations. Eighty percent of homeowners with an existing home equity line of credit say they are planning home renovations this upcoming winter.

FHA Prohibits PACE Loans
On Dec. 7, 2017, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced that HUD will no longer insure mortgages encumbered with a Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) assessment. This reversal of HUD policy is a victory for the National Association of REALTORS® whose members sounded concern that PACE liens would take a first-lien position over FHA in instances of default or foreclosure, undermining the government's collateral position and disrupting the secured lending process.

Turning Tourists into Locals
According to research from the U.S. Travel Association (USTA), the U.S. tourism industry can look forward to more foreign visitors in 2018. It's estimated that 76.9 million foreigners will visit the U.S. in the coming year. The USTA also found that in 2016 the U.S. was the second largest inbound tourism market, after France. In a world of destinations, that's pretty impressive.
