Join us tomorrow night for an informative presentation by the Center. Today RIS will be hosting the school championships for the National Geographic Bee. Participants were chosen based on the outcome of last week's preliminary round in upper school Individuals & Societies classes. Learn more about this exciting competition below.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC GEOGRAPHY BEE
Upper School Students to Compete for RIS Championship Today

The National Geographic Bee is an annual competition organized by the National Geographic Society, designed to inspire and reward students' curiosity about the world. Students in grades four through eight (4-8) from 10,000 schools across the United States will compete in the 2018 National Geographic Bee for a chance to win college scholarships and the glory of being the National Geographic Bee Champion.

Rogers International School conducted the preliminary round of the Geo Bee last week in each student's Individuals and Societies classes for Grades 5 - 8. The top ten finalists will compete in the championship round today in the Leslie J. Padilla Performing Arts Center. The school champion will then take an online test to move on to the state championship. Last year's school champion was 5th Grader Arush Rao. He was also selected as one of the 100 statewide finalists to compete on March 31st, 2017 at Central Connecticut State University. Please cheer on our students today!

IN MEMORY OF MS. EVE MADIGAN

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of EVE MADIGAN, long-time, well-respected, and dearly loved member of the RIS teaching staff.

Eve, a Stamford native, was first diagnosed with cancer in 2002 and finally gave in on December 28th, 2017. Her 24 year career as a teacher was spent with Rogers Elementary, now Rogers International School. She retired this past year when it got difficult to be in the classroom. She taught Language Arts and loved to inspire her students the way she was once inspired by her teachers.

Eve loved literature, travel, good restaurants, and smart clothes. Skiing and sailing were her passions. Sailing on Long Island Sound was where she was most at peace.

Eve wanted everyone to know that the memories she shared with people and the love and messages gave her a lot of comfort during her illness.

EVE, you will forever be missed and remembered!!
