MVTMA WELCOMES NEW COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

The Merrimack Valley Transportation Management Association has hired a new communications and program manager.
Gretchen Grosky will be working with area communities, property owners and businesses to promote the MVTMA's mission of easing traffic on roadways, helping the environment, boosting the region's economy, and making life a little easier for commuters by increasing awareness of existing opportunities for a shared commuting and exploring opportunities and developing enhanced commuting options.
"The MVTMA's goal is connectivity, getting you to and from work in less time, with less stress, and at less cost," Grosky said. "I look forward to working with members and our service area communities to create transportation solutions that will make the Merrimack Valley that much better a place to live and work in."
Grosky has spent much of her career working in the Merrimack Valley, including running her own media relations business, teaching at Merrimack College, and as managing editor for The Eagle-Tribune.
She can be reached by email at [email protected] or by calling (978)852-4502.
'MILES ON THE MBTA'

Looking for a little something to read or watch while on the Commuter Rail? Here is a great WBUR story about a young man named Miles Taylor who has spent his high school years blogging reviews of the MBTA.
The 17-year-old calls it " Miles on the MBTA" and so far he's reviewed more than 500 bus and rail lines. He looks at everything from service to shelters provided, scoring each on a scale of 10.
"I just really like riding it and observing the people, the amount of people," he told WBUR, "and looking at these systems and seeing how they function."
TAKE A SURVEY, GO TO FENWAY

We want to reward employers, commercial and residential developers, and college/universities that encourage their employees to use green, sustainable and healthy transportation options with a Massachusetts ECO Award and a morning at Fenway Park.
Surveys were e-mailed to all MVTMA members in early February. It takes just one representative to answer the survey about what commuter option programs they offer employees. Each member that responds will be recognized with a Gold, Silver or Bronze Award. Respondents can also nominate their company for a special Spotlight Award, which recognizes special commuter transportation programs.  Submit your survey by February 16th.
Awards will be presented April 18 during a breakfast ceremony at Fenway Park. For more information, e-mail [email protected].
