A Look Ahead to 2018 from Mayor Radloff

Dear Neighbors,

I am honored and excited to serve as your Mayor. While I've only held the office
for a short four weeks, I can unequivocally say that 2018 will be an important and eventf ul year.

First, Castle Pines will be celebrating its 10th anniversary. To m ark the occasion, the City will organize a variety of events and promotions that honor our history and celebrate our future. Follow us on Facebook and keep an eye on castlepinesgov.com for details.

Your City Council will also hire a new City Manager this year to lead the organization and to help our community address new challenges and opportunities. As a Council, we're currently discussing the best process to recruit and hire this position. Our City Manager plays a critical role in Castle Pines' success and we're committed to finding the right person.

Your involvemen t in local government is equally important to keeping our community  among the best places to live in Colorado. That's why this year we'll also identify new  ways to con nect with Castle Pines residents. In January, we welcomed three new City Council members to our board of seven, and have one more position to fill. I know all of us welcome your thoughts, concerns, and ideas. You can find our contact information online.

2018 is off to a busy start.  I look forward to a year of celebration, progress, and collaboration.

Best,
Mayor Tera Radloff

Happy 10th Birthday, Castle Pines!

The City officially turns 10 years old on February 12, 2018. In honor and recognition of the City's 10th anniversary, we've developed a year-long celebration schedule to engage the community and recognize our City. We hope you'll help us celebrate!

Fallen Officer Fund of Douglas County

On December 31, 2017, Deputy Zackari Parrish lost his life protecting the residents of Douglas County and four other law enforcement officers were injured. In these difficult times, it's important to look after each other as a community. The purpose of the Fallen Officer Fund is to provide assistance to Douglas County Sheriff's Office members who are killed or seriously injured in the line of duty.

Please consider donating to the Fallen Officer Fund of Douglas County to support these heroes. If you prefer that your donation be given to a specific law enforcement member, simply attach a note indicating who the donation is for.

What Does the Castle Pines 2018 Budget Have in Store?

In Castle Pines, we value transparency and accountability. That's why we believe it's extremely important to share our 2018 budget with residents. The City's budget reflects the goals developed by City Council and provides a blueprint for City services. In addition to the complete City budget, found on the City's Finance webpage, we've also created a handy 2018 Budget Brief that highlights the most important aspects of the City budget in a short four-page overview.

"Alexa, ask Douglas County: What events are happening this weekend?"

Douglas County is introducing a skill for Amazon Alexa called "Ask Douglas County."

This skill provides a new way for you to connect to the County's calendar of events and services, including things happening in and around Castle Pines.

How do you use it?
The skill can be enabled through a user's Amazon Alexa app or by saying, "Alexa, enable Douglas County" to the Amazon device. Once the skill is enabled, users can use voice commands to ask about:
  • Up-to-date news - "Alexa, ask Douglas County, what's new?"
  • Local family-friendly events - "Alexa, ask Douglas County, what events are occurring this month?"
  • Road closures - "Alexa, ask Douglas County, if there are any road closures?"
  • Property value and taxes - "Alexa, ask Douglas County, how do I pay my property taxes?"
  • County services - "Alexa, ask Douglas County, how do I find out about county finances?"
