While Punxsutawney Phil may have seen his shadow on Groundhog's Day, meaning six more weeks of winter, Southern California begs to differ.  Sure feels like we skipped most of winter and spring and are already to summer!  That could be partly due to boy's teams earning bids to JO's, girls teams starting the season with a bang, and beach teams playing most every weekend now.  

There is no "hibernating" around WAVE as we are all moving full steam ahead.

Rules & Strategies Parent Presentation - FEBRUARY 11 - 5pm CTCT-20180205_134054
Director Brennan Dean will be hosting a session to provide parents with an understanding to the basic and advanced rules of the indoor game paired with strategies that coaches may use.  The goal is to help inform and enhance everyone's enjoyment of watching this game we love.

If you happened to miss the College Seminar held on January 28th, stop by the south gym front desk and ask for a hard copy of the information that was presented.  It can help your child and you navigate the path of College Recruitment.

CTCT-20180205_133824 USA Sitting Volleyball Exhibition 
January 27th the USA Paralympic Sitting Volleyball team brought a new twist to the game of volleyball normally played in the South Tent.  Attendees were treated to a sitting volleyball scrimmage between WAVE Coaches and members of the USA team followed by a clinic to provide individuals the opportunity to test out their sitting skills compared to standing.  Thank you to all who attended this amazing event.  To find out more about it, check out the article on   Volleyballmag.com.

ISPE for 2018-2019 School Year
It sounds crazy, but it's that time to start looking into school schedules for next year.  Many ISPE programs require applications for next school year to be completed during April - June.  WAVE offers two ISPE programs, to support athletes development.

Sand in your toes . . 

The sun is hanging out longer so . . . afternoon practice times are back to 3:30-5:30 at the North "Dog" Beach location.  Check the Practice Schedule for all practice times and locations.

Packages & session drop-ins are available for purchase. Come train with us!

SPRING BREAK BEACH CAMP registration is now open.  The camps are open to girls in 3rd-12th grades and boys 3rd-8th grade no matter your level of play!

Prepare to win!  
As Bobby Knight said, "The key is not the will to win, everyone has that.  It is the will to prepare to win that's important."  WAVE Beach athletes are dedicated to their preparation and it is paying off as they battle in their tournaments, gaining experience and finding victories along the way.

The First Dance

This is a phenomenal way to begin the journey as husband and wife.  It works all muscle groups and more importantly it strengthens the bond between them.  Additionally, it provides joy to all that witness as they reminisce or dream of theirs.

College Commits & Recruiting Tips
Hodge's Hints for Recruiting 

Parents, your role in the recruiting process is to be as supportive as possible.  It is your children's role to learn how to work for themselves.  

Your support may come in the form of proofreading their emails, asking them about their phone calls with coaches, listening to what your kids have to say, and offering suggestions to help them problem solve and navigate when asked.  Please don't do it for them - they are the ones heading to college.
