Way of Life Bible Study
An Advent Bible Study based on the book,
"The Great Spiritual Migration"
by Brian McLaren

Continues TONIGHT and each Wednesday through December 20
6:30 to 8:00 PM

Advent is a time of preparing, a time of expectation, a time of coming... This Advent Season, we will be joining together in study as we gather each Advent Wednesday for a Bible Study based on Brian McLaren's book, "The Great Spiritual Migration."  With an Advent theme of preparing, expecting,  and coming, we will learn how shifting away from an outdated system of beliefs to a new way of life based on love can lead to new, more redemptive communities and practices.  Our time together will be a time of worship and study, approaching and engaging in the spiritual, theological, and missional "migrations" outlined in McLaren's book.  Each week we will have the opportunity to see Christianity with new eyes, being challenged to focus less on doctrine, more on new ways of reading Scripture, and ultimately on love as manifested in the life of Jesus.

Couldn't make it last week and want to join us tonight?  Come on out at 6:30 and let us know by clicking here.

Advent Giving to Support
Family Promise

Through the season of Advent, we're collecting
Wal-Mart and Dollar Tree   gift cards of any denomination to support families housed by Family Promise.  We'll deliver them weekly to the Day Center for timely distribution during the season. There's a basket in the Gathering Area to receive your gifts. Thank you for including this blessing in your holiday giving.
We're currently in the planning stages of our Annual Fall Event. This has historically been one of our biggest fundraisers of the year, and we could always use more help. To learn more about how you can volunteer, please email Rick Todd at [email protected] .
Epiphany Christmas Play

We are planning a wonderful Christmas play for this year! The play will be during the morning service time on Dec. 24 Christmas Eve! It is open for all ages! We need actors for speaking parts, carolers for singing Christmas carols, non-speaking parts for parts such as characters (such as animals, angels, and more), music makers (such as hand chimes and instrumentalists), and costume/prop designers. There will be sign-up sheets in the gathering area beginning this Sunday. Just check to see if you are able to be here during the morning time on Christmas Eve and sign up!

Contact Hannah George at [email protected] or Marilyn Magers at [email protected] with any questions!
Monday Morning Group

A new study and conversation group began on November 27. We'll meet from 10:30 to 11:45 each Monday in the Community Room to share news, follow up on themes and openings in Sunday worship, read passages in selected books, biblical and other, and enjoy each other's company. Updated information sheets are available in the Gathering Area, along with a sign-up sheet and sample copies of the books we'll use.

We will begin with the  new book by Tripp Fuller,  Homebrewed  Christianity Guide to Jesus  (Fortress, 2017), and focus during Advent on Chapter 4, "Reading the Gospels Heresy-Free" (Kindle edition $7.78; paperback $8.19, Amazon Prime). If you would like me to order a copy, let me know.

All are welcome!

Report from Syria Working Group

We've received word that the total number of children being served in Lebanon was 632 in October--more in some schools, fewer in other schools because some children have entered regular Lebanese schools or returned to Syria. According to our contact in Lebanon, the number of children being served has more than doubled since Tina Manley visited Lebanon and Syria in June. New schools have opened.

In addition to helping by donating $20 for calendars and $25 for note card packs of 25 here in Rock Hill, it is now possible to order calendars and note cards online. We will be happy to fill all orders at Epiphany--just let us know. Thanks for your concern and support!

For cards and calendars, through an "etsy" website for nonprofits that takes 10% of income:

or directly to Tina's printer for calendars:
PAINTER - PAINTER -
PAINTER NEEDED
The Property Team is looking to accept bids from painting contractors to paint the exterior of the church and replace trim work as needed.  If you know of a painter who is interested and that you could recommend, please pass their name and contact information along.  We will be looking for at least 3 bids, hopefully more, so that we can move forward with this badly needed church maintenance project.  Contact Rick Krenzer at  803-322-2222.
