Recognize. Honor. Thank.

We often hear from Academy alumni that the greatest lessons they learned did not come from textbooks, but from the balanced, guiding hands of the faculty and staff.

This year, we are pleased to recognize and commend John Exline '64 for his 50 years of service to Columbus Academy. Mr. Exline is the first Academy faculty member to reach this incredible milestone. He exemplifies the traits of the most treasured Academy faculty and alumni: diligent, hardworking, humble seekers of lifelong learning.

With our great teaching in mind, we are asking everyone in our Academy community for their help in keeping our standard of excellence as strong as ever with a gift to the Annual Fund. Your support honors the legacy of impactful teachers and ensures that the next generation of Viking teachers and students continue to build upon our strong foundation.

We invite you to make your next gift in honor of a teacher or coach who made a difference in your life.
Fall Academy Magazine On The Way

Also included in this issue are a bevy of class notes about your fellow alumni, two seasons worth of sports recaps and a special tribute to Susan Neal. If you do not receive our magazine in the mail or would like to request additional copies, please contact Director of Alumni Relations Jennifer Conti at [email protected].
School News

Two weeks ago, Academy senior Cole Walter signed an NCAA National Letter of Intent to join the men's golf program at Davidson College! Cole completed his impressive four-year career on our varsity golf squad by placing sixth at last month's Division II state tournament, which earned him a spot on the All-Ohio Second Team and helped the Vikings win their eighth state title. With a 74-stroke average this fall, Cole also picked up first team all-district & second team all-league honors. As a junior, he made the all-district and all-league first teams and was Team MVP. His sophomore season resulted in first team all-league and second team all-district recognition. And as a freshman on the 2014 state championship squad, he tied for 25th in the state tournament, was an all-district honorable mention and qualified for the all-league first team as co-medalist at the MSL-Ohio championship. In addition to a pair of team state titles during his prep career, he helped lead the Vikes to two district crowns, three sectional titles and three league championships. Cole is the son of Seanna & Matt Walter '87 of New Albany.

Columbus Academy's new ice hockey program played its first official JV game earlier this month as the Vikings faced Dublin Scioto at Chiller Ice Works in Worthington. The turnout from our community was outstanding, which added to the exciting action on the ice to create a high-energy atmosphere! Despite the 5-2 loss, there was much to cheer for including the ceremonial puck drop and Academy's first goal, which was scored by junior Cole Walker on a penalty shot.
