Building Community FY 2016-17 annual report available online
Building Community: Annual Report FY 2016-17 has been published online by Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation (LUT).
The report celebrates the LUT staffs efforts to build a safe, economically viable, healthy Washington County community. In the last fiscal year, LUT hired a senior planner focused on affordable housing. Three new roundabouts were constructed. The 124th Avenue Extension project continued throughout the fiscal year, with the new Basalt Creek Parkway opening in August 2017. LUT also launched the Aloha Tomorrow planning study, which is focused on improvements in the Aloha Town Center at 185th Avenue and TV Highway.
"Once again, LUT had an outstanding fiscal year, thanks to our hard-working employees," said Andrew Singelakis, Director. "Our Operations and Maintenance Division staff - particularly the road crews - spent most of the winter months clearing roads of snow and ice to keep travelers safe. We launched an ambitious schedule of capital road projects and road maintenance projects and saw several land use ordinances adopted."
During Fiscal Year 2016-17, LUT:
  • Handled 71 road projects in design or construction.
  • Accepted 521 land use applications.
  • Approved 4,776 building plan reviews.
  • Responded to 1,725 road service requests (vegetation trimming, pothole/rough road repair, drainage, etc.)
  • Performed road paving and sealing on 66 centerline miles.
More LUT Fiscal 2016-17 projects and statistics are included in the annual report, available at LUTAnnualReport.com. Printed copies will be available at Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation, 155 N. First Ave. Ste. 350, Hillsboro, OR 97124.
