Snowlion Rep is
Theater
Made in Maine

Never before on a New England stage - a trip to the South Pole!  We are thrilled to finally present the show that electrified us years ago at the Edinburgh Festival (starring a then unknown by the name of Alan Cumming).

And if you're thinking about a unique gift for the holidays, consider our 2-show pass - only $35 for two terrific shows not just set in Maine - but Made in Maine!

Sincerely,

The Conquest of the South Pole
makes its New England debut

Four unemployed Rumford Maine mill workers, at the very edge of despair, concoct an innovative way to empower themselves amidst the hardships of their lives - reenact Amundsen's successful conquest of the South Pole, and thereby conquer their own inner demons.  Will they make it?  Will they fail?  Who will live and who will die?

This utterly original show - raw, highly theatrical and unpredictable - was written  by German playwright Manfred Karge, a member of Brecht's Berliner ensemble, and features some of the best acting talent in the region.

You won't want to miss this startling drama, set in Maine, as it seeks to explore not just the South Pole, but one of the most pervasive issues of our times - finding hope amidst the challenges of life.

The show opens January 26 and runs through February 4 for 7 performances.

Performances are at the Portland Ballet Studio Theater, 517 Forest Avenue, Portland.  Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at www.snowlionrep.org
or by calling (207) 518-9305.  For more information, visit www.snowlionrep.org.

Anything Helps God Bless
to go on to other venues (?)

The success of  Anything Helps God Bless  - with sold out performances, VIP visits, unprecedented news media coverage and enthusiastic crowds - will help its authors achieve a greatly desired goal:  for the show to be performed by other local theater companies in cities and towns where similar panhandling ordinances have either failed or succeeded in being passed.

With calls from audiences for the show to "Go National," we've decided to work to expand its reach by offering it for production to other companies across the country.  By telling this very specific story, we hope other theaters will share with their audiences the very universal themes of homelessness, poverty, giving, and how ordinary people can have great influence on society.   We'll keep you posted on what happens next!

PLAYLAB to feature
new play by Paul Dervis

Our January 30 PlayLab - now open to the public - tells the story of a unique friendship.  In Dave's Last Name, author Paul Dervis explores the nuances of a bond between two men that goes beyond the love of baseball they share, into the uncharted territory of a relationship that lasts a lifetime - and beyond.

We hope you'll join us on Tuesday January 30 for this remarkable play - and yes, bring a friend!
