Devon’s Saturday’s with Santa will expand into the Gardens again this year; families can enjoy food trucks, FREE admission to the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory and entertainment inside the Crystal Bridge. Our herbal Christmas display with floral arrangements and festive displays will adorn the Bridge, while the outdoor grounds will be decked with boughs of holly and greenery, making a beautiful winter backdrop for your family photos. While you’re here, be sure to visit the Devon Ice Rink and our other holiday attractions.

Crystal Bridge

Last Sunday we saw 4,800 people go through the Crystal Bridge! The beauty of the Crystal Bridge takes on a whole new glow at night. Thanks to our friends at OGE Energy Corp., we are pleased to offer FREE admission on Sunday evenings in December to the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory. Come enjoy charming holiday light displays and beautiful plant exhibits designed especially for the holiday season.

Devon Ice Rink
Open Monday-Thursday, 3-9pm; Friday, 3-11pm; Saturday, 11am-11pm; and Sunday, 11am-7pm. Cost is $13, includes skate rental. $8 with your own skates. $7 for members includes FREE skate rental. Join online here.

At Devon Ice Rink, you can skate across 5,500 square feet of real ice, and indulge in seasonal food and beverage offerings.

December is a great time to prune many plants in the garden. Join our Gardens and Grounds Manager Matthew Janda for a hands-on workshop. Matthew will first give an overview of the best time for pruning both flowering and evergreen trees. He’ll then demonstrate proper tree pruning techniques and give each participant a chance to try their hand at pruning. Proper tool maintenance will be touched on as well.

Have an overgrown hedge row or climbing vine? Looking to clean up your garden a bit? Then join our Gardens and Grounds Manager, Matthew Janda, for hands on instruction on how to properly maintain your shrubs and vines. Matthew will discuss the best time for pruning various shrub and vine types and will demonstrate proper pruning techniques as well as tool maintenance. Each participant will have a chance to practice their newly learned skills in the Garden.

Are you in need of a Christmas card photo with your fur baby this year? Well, the Gardens have just the ticket for you! Join us for photos with Santa, mingle with other dogs, enjoy a “Pup”-piccino, or make a paw print stocking for your mantle. Midtown Vets will be onsite accepting donations for their “I’m Not Alone” program and A1 Pet Emporium will have milk and cookies and goodie bags for all registered pups! Advance registration is required by Thursday, December 7 at noon. 
Forcing Paperwhites for the Holidays

Learn how to force this beautiful flower just in time for the holidays. In this interactive program you’ll learn about the long-blooming Paperwhite, which can bloom for up to six weeks. We’ll discuss care tips and guide you through potting up your own bulbs to enjoy at home.

Gingerbread House Workshop

‘Tis the season to decorate a beautiful gingerbread house. We’ll learn about the flavorful ginger root – where it comes from, how it grows – and then go on a hunt in our conservatory to find it. We’ll finish by decorating our fragrant masterpieces. All supplies provided including gingerbread structure, frosting, candies for decorating and a little help if needed.

Join Herbalist, Monica Arndt, to create a kitchen gift basket for the holidays. Monica will provide you with recipes and then guide you through the steps of creating your own Herbs De Provence mix, a Rose Petal Jam and an 8” living Rosemary wreath. She’ll also discuss the benefits of each of these herbs and will provide great ideas for adding even more to your basket. You may even need to make two baskets, one for a friend and one for you!

Where do all of our wildlife friends go in the chilly winter months? Learn all about their cozy hiding spots and tricks in this interactive children’s class. We’ll talk about how various animals survive in the winter and then learn how we can help them out in our backyards or neighborhoods. We’ll read a book, play a game and finish with a DIY bird feeder made out of unique recycled home goods.

An event for families with children with special needs, join us inside the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory for an evening with Santa. This event provides a more controlled and welcoming environment for a Santa Photo Experience. We will have festive booths with activities for the children. Santa will be in a designated spot for photos throughout the evening. No loud music. A healthy snack will be provided for paid registrants thanks to Whole Foods Market.  Registered guests that need handicap accessible parking should contact Nicole Kusnierz for de tails at nkusinerz@myriadgardens.org

Painting in the Gardens with Wine and Palette “DIY Pet Portraits”

We want your pet photos! Join Wine and Palette for Painting in the Gardens “DIY Pet Portraits.” Send in a photo from our Santa Paws event or just a fun loving photo of your pet and recreate the photo on a 16"×20" canvas. Participants will need to email their photo into Wine and Palette a week before the event for the artists to properly prepare for the course.
