Hi Friends!
"Let it be with me according to your word." This is Mary's prayer that I invited all of us to pray this last Sunday. If you missed that sermon, you can view it here.
Also, here are two good optio
ns for reading Scripture during Advent.
- The Advent Project from Biola University's Center for Christianity, Culture, and the Arts. This Devotion includes Scripture readings, reflections, music, and art.
- If you want a simpler Devotion, which is simply a list of Bible passages to read, here is a good one from another Presbyterian church where one of my best friends is a pastor.
This Advent we are talking about abiding in Christ, and this Sunday we will talk about a key dimension of that: Hope.
Please continue to pray for those who are affected by fires in Southern California. A number of people in our own congregation have been evacuated. If you are one of them and need assistance of any kind, please email
Pastor Chuck. We also got word that one of our local outreach partners, Hope Gardens (Union Rescue Mission's home for mothers and children) evacuated 65 families and are in temporary shelter. We will be collecting donated items now through Sunday including the following: diapers 0-5, Baby wipes, formula, baby bottles, and healthy kids snacks. As you might imagine, this evacuation will create unanticipated costs for Union Rescue Mission. If you would like to make a special contribution to help the evacuated families, donate
here (you'll find a field marked "URM @ Hope Gardens").
Faith, Hope, and Love,
We also encourage you to connect through the following events:
