The Antigua Charter Yacht Show

The Antigua Charter Yacht Show (ACYA) is an eagerly-anticipated yearly gathering. Yachts ranging in size from 50 to 250 feet are showcasing their interiors, exteriors, innovations, crews and cutting-edge toys for vacationers around the world. Here charter professionals like us gather with our checklists and expectations to vet some of the world's best yachts and then fulfill our clients' travel dreams.

You may think that these charter yacht shows sound glamorous. Yes, the yachts are thoughtfully designed and beautifully maintained. The captains and crews are genuinely awesome and you meet lots of fun people but I'm here to tell you, friend, this is hard work!

Sue Gearan and I are working from a list of 72 charter yachts that will be available for vetting at the ACYA. In case you're wondering, that is a lot of boats to cover in less than a week!

Of course, it's worth the work to find the right yacht charter adventure for our clients.

Two trends we love are families having multi-generational adventures aboard charter yachts, and groups of millennials pooling together for a bit of luxury travel/yachting adventure.

You can read more about the importance that travel professionals place on attending boat shows like the Antigua Yacht Charter Show in  our blog post HERE.

BELIZE: Don't Stop Belizin'

Please forgive us all the Belize puns. It's not just the name but the place itself that makes us giddy. You can Belize it!

Not only is Belize warm, breezy and beautiful, it is home to the second largest coral reef on Planet Earth!

Belize is part of the Mesoamerica biodiversity hotspot. The Mesoamerican Reef is the world's second largest barrier reef and forms a portion of the Western Caribbean coral reef hotspot.

Also known as "the other Caribbean", Belize is home to extraordinary flora and fauna - many species endemic (found only in Belize).

People are friendly. Days are warm. Nights are cool. Add fresh gourmet food, swimming with sting rays, seals and tortoises in a clear blue sea, cruising on a gorgeous boat with a crew who takes care of your every need - and you have a vacation of a lifetime.

Charter rates are based on 7 nights/8 days. The charter fee generally only covers the rental of the yacht and its crew.

Plus expenses  means an Applied Provisioning Allowance (APA) is charged in advance then reconciled at the end of the charter. It's an additional fee which covers extras such as food, drink, fuel, berthing costs, customs, communications, etc. The APA is the standard system to pay your expenses on a luxury yacht charter. The average APA is 35% of the yacht charter fee.

Crew gratuity is at client discretion; 15% is customary.

Charter rates are subject to change without notice.
