DONATE FOOD
.....That you may feed a hungry world through me .....
Hays County Food Bank has really been depleted because of the hurricanes that have hit recently. Our church is having a food drive to help replenish their shelves. Bring your items to the hall that is to the right of the worship center, and behind it.
If you're not sure about whether an item can be donated, please contact the office at 512-392-8300 x230 or by email at haysfoodbank.org.
Student Ministry
by Greg Burney

I would like to thank everyone who took a part in our annual spaghetti dinner! It was a great night! We had a lot of fun together and the students made us proud with their hard work. Also a huge thank you to anyone who donated items to the silent auction! God is good!

It's hard to believe that it is almost Thanksgiving! This school year is flying by! Our students have been active in Bible studies and events. HHSM has seen many changes over the past year and our adult leaders have been amazing in helping implement these changes. God has blessed us here at Hays Hills with some really amazing people who love our students and are committed to helping them grow in their faith!

Children's Ministry
by Shelley McDaid

I am encouraged and invigorated by the success of our Fall Family Festival! It was a cold morning, but the event couldn't have gone better! This was an important outreach opportunity to our community, and we represented the body of Christ well. I am so thankful for the families who set up trunks and games, served food and drinks and welcomed all the families and guests that came through. I am also very thankful for our youth, who helped with set up, take down and cheerfully served wherever they were needed during the event. We estimate that we had nearly 300 people in attendance.
We are already planning next year's event, so mark your calendars for  October 27, 2018 from 9:30-12 noon

In Children's Bible Life, we are learning about Jesus' time on earth after His resurrection. We are learning that Jesus showed himself to over 500 people to prove that He is alive and had indeed conquered death. We are also learning that during His appearances, He reminds His followers that they are to live on mission to make disciples of all nations. Last Sunday in Children's Worship, we did a fun dress up relay to help the kids remember that believers are clothed with the power of the Holy Spirit.

Every week, I post the Bible story picture and main point of the lesson taught along with some discussion points for your family time at home. You can follow the Hays Hills Children's Ministry page on Facebook to see those updates.

It is a joy for me to teach the kids each week, and we have fun doing it with discussion, songs, games and activities.

Our memory verse for November is 1 Corinthians 15:3-4.

Discipleship and Education
by David Sweet

Bible Life is the central ministry of Hays Hills where evangelism, ministry, discipleship, fellowship and Bible teaching take place.
If you aren't involved in a Bible Life class, you are missing some key spiritual nutrients.  Let me know if you need help finding a
class.

Being present in a Bible Life class and in worship is a vote for Christ and His body the church.  The book of Hebrews tells us that being present is
a major for of encouragement to the body as we seek to be the embassy of the Kingdom of God in our community and world.

Can I add that-being on time to class-is also an encouragement?!  Too many Sundays of being late might communicate something erroneous to our
kids about the value of church, compared to their athletic teams, school and work.

Our newest Bible Life classes are mostly filled.  We will always need new classes to reach more folks in our community with the gospel.
Join me in praying for more qualified teachers for adults, teens and kids.

CLC News
by Mitzi  Hudgins
During the next two weeks the classrooms at CLC will be focusing on being thankful and also on giving to others.  It is so precious to hear the children speak of things that they are thankful for in their lives!  We will also once again be participating in the Operation Christmas Child shoe box ministry.  This is a great opportunity for the children  to help pack a shoe box to give to another child in need in a different part of the world, and also show God's love to them!  If you would like to drop off a shoe box with the CLC Office, we will be accepting the boxes through  Thursday, November 16.

This week I would like to introduce you to the teachers of our Caterpillars classroom, Erin McCormick and Lauren Milam! The children in the Caterpillars class were 14-20 months old when we started the school year, and have already changed so much in just a few months!  The children are very curious, love to paint, play and explore, and SING!  They are such great listeners in our chapel time and are learning about how much God loves them!  May you be blessed this week!   "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:18
From Pastor Aaron

Our hearts ache for those affected by the shooting at FBC Sutherland Springs like they would for any tragedy, but in this case our sorrow is amplified because these are our brothers and sisters in Christ. Since we are one in Christ, what happened in Sutherland Springs has happened to us, too. The sorrow you feel is the Spirit of God grieving sin and injustice carried out against your brothers and sisters.

We are called to bear one another's burdens and now is the time for us to love our brothers and sisters in Sutherland Springs with the love of Christ.

The Southern Baptist Convention, through our Cooperative Program giving, will cover all funeral expenses. If you have given to the general budget of HHBC you have played a part in that. The Austin Baptist Association will be collecting funds to further assist the grieving families.

If you would like to give directly to these needs you can mail checks to:

Austin Baptist Association
P.O. Box 4978
Austin, TX 78765

Please be sure to write on the memo line: FBC Sutherland Springs

Security at HHBC

In the wake of the shooting several members have asked questions about security here at HHBC. A few items that might be helpful for you to know:

We have had APD provide active shooter consultation. APD toured our campus and made suggestions on procedures to implement and building improvements to increase security. Following that consultation we made the suggested building improvements and began training staff, including CLC staff, on active shooter protocol.

We have a security team composed of men with military and/or law enforcement training and experience who volunteer to serve our body by providing security during our services. Obviously, due to security reasons, we do not disclose the names of those providing security or any details relating to their practices.

If you were to see something suspicious on campus, please alert a staff member who can relay the information to our security team.
Prayer Updates

David Davidson is scheduled for knee surgery on Friday. Pray for a successful surgery and smooth recovery.

Jean Bruner has stage 4 kidney disease, and is in need of a kidney transplant.

Jeff Hudgins will have a heart cath today.  P ray for clear test results, wise course of action, and for the peace of Christ to guard Jeff and Mitzi's hearts against anxiety.
