Loyola will not have busing from the District on  Monday, January 15, 2018. Please plan alternate transportation for this day.

HOMEWORK HELPERS- TUTORING
MSU's College of Education is offering a free tutoring program for PreK-12 students. Click  here for more information.
KIWANIS HOLIDAY LIGHTS PARADE- WALKERS/RIDERS WANTED!
Loyola will again be participating in the parade on Friday, 11/ 24.  We are looking for volunteers to walk/ride on the float the night of the parade. This is a great way for your family to show its pride for Loyola!   Grab your Santa hats, Christmas sweaters, etc. and meet us at the parade! 

Parade participant drop off is at the corner of Rogers and Owen.You may not park there, it is just  for parade participants. Drop off is recommended before 5:15 PM because of increased traffic  congestion. See map for details!





A MESSAGE FROM THE LOYOLA ECON CLASS
The Loyola Econ class is starting a business called Sader Gaiter; they are selling homemade fleece neck gaiters.

SHORT-TERM HOST FAMILIES NEEDED
ALMOST FILLED - we are in need of 1 more host family! Do you have a typical American family? Do you enjoy learning about exciting new cultures? Then we've got an adventure for you! Nacel Open Door's Short Term Program is seeking Host Families for students from Argentina! These 16-year-old students want to experience America fi rsthand, improve their English, and see what high school is like in the USA. Host Families provide room, board, and transportation to and from Loyo la Catholic School (and also receive a stipend) during the students' month-long stay  from  January 8-February 9, 2018  Intere sted? SPEECH PARENT MEETING
Wednesday, 11/29 at 6:00pm  in room 205.  This meeting is for all 6th -12th students, returning and people who are curious and interesting in learning more about Speech.

CONGRATULATIONS, MR. LANDKAMER!
Congratulations to Loyola Activities Director John Landkamer for being recognized for the WHY WE PLAY Leadership Citation Award. This award recognized athletic and activity administrators for their leadership and commitment to education-based programs in their school community. Mr. Landkamer will be presented with the award on Saturday, November 25 as part of the MSHSL Prep Bowl and U.S. Bank Stadium during halftime of the Class AAAAA Championship Game which begins at 4pm.  The presentation can be seen on Channel 45.

LOYOLA ROBOTICS
Loyola Robotics teams competed at the VEX tournament at Mankato East on Saturday.
Loyola had five middle school teams (35 students) competing. There were 23 teams total participating in the IQ division. Congratulations to A team: Emily Coudron, Teigyn Moore, Daniel Bergquist, Raiden Gruenzner, Mason Stoffel, Beth Ness, Joe Kollasch who placed second and received an invitation to the VEX IQ State Tournament in St. Cloud in February! 
Special thanks to the middle school sponsors: Aluma, Southern Minnesota Orthodontics, Waco Scaffolding/Riverbend Rental, Buffalo Wild Wings, Theuninck Construction and Subway. And thank you to Kim and Rick Moore for the photos!



Loyola had three high school teams with 13 total competitors. Team 67593A, Ben Cahalan, Hunter Westman, Zabir Montazau, Alexa Pongratz, and Owen Casteel, was awarded special recognition from the judges. Judges consider a number of possible criteria for this award, such as team displays of special attributes, exemplary effort and perseverance at the event, or team accomplishments or endeavors throughout the season that may not fit under existing awards, but are nonetheless deserving of special recognition.

MSU HONOR BAND
Every year we send students to honor bands to give them opportunities to perform in large ensembles with other talented musicians and to work with great teachers and conductors.We are fortunate to have one of these honor bands take place in Mankato. This year the MSU honor band will include students from 35 schools, including 6 Loyola students! 

Congratulations to:
Elizabeth Benzmiller (Senior, Flute), Isaiah Rentschler (Senior, Trumpet), John Torgerson (Senior, Trombone), Molly Hodapp (Junior, Trumpet), Noah Haefner (Junior, Baritone), Anne Wood (Junior, Baritone).


The Minnesota State University, Mankato High School Honor Band concert will be held  Friday, January 26, 2018 at 4:30pm in the MSU CSU ballroom.

Mrs. Klasen will be holding "Study Table"  on Tuesday afternoons from  3:00-4:00pm, beginning Tuesday, 9/26.  These sessions are designed to help students with academics, organization, and time management skills. All 4th - 8th grade students are welcome to join us in the Media Center.

Attire is dress clothes. There is no specific items that need to be worn, but students should dress nicely. No jeans or tennis shoes. Dresses/skirts should be knee length or worn with leggings/tights. No leggings without a skirt or long top.

Seniors: Fireside Catholic Publishing is offering a scholarship of $1,000 to five outstanding Catholic High School seniors who are daily
"Putting their Faith into Action."

To enter you must write a 750-word essay on how your religious education is influencing your life (Topic: "How is your Religious Education Influencing your Life?"). All submissions must be filled out and returned no later than  December 4, 2017
