#GivingTuesday
The York Catholic students and staff helped serve the community by assisting the Catholic Harvest Food Pantry and Lifepath Ministries to provide over 1700 families with Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow.

It's in that same spirit that we want to remind you that York Catholic will be taking part in this year's #GivingTuesday one day online philanthropy campaign on November 28. It's easy (and fun) to get caught up in the consumerism of the holiday season with days like Black Friday and Cyber Monday. That's why a day dedicated to giving and doing good for others, like #GivingTuesday, is so important!

This year we hope to raise more than $15,000 for the York Catholic Fund.

In case you'll be unavailable, or unable to donate on #GivingTuesday, we encourage you to donate now by clicking on the button below or through the York Catholic website donation page as part of the fundraising effort.

Please share this message with friends and family! Thanks for your support of a York Catholic education where We Believe you can make a difference!

Businesses Give Back
During this holiday season, there are two organization that are giving back to YC for every dollar you spend.

If you typically do any of your Christmas shopping online at amazon.com, go to www.smile.amazon.com instead and the Amazon Smile Foundation will donate .5% of eligible AmazonSmile purchases to York Catholic's Student Aid and Endowment Fund.  Simply select York Catholic as the recipient of the donation when making your purchase. AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you know -- same products, same prices, same service -- with an added benefit for your favorite cause.

Giant's A+ School Rewards program offers schools like York Catholic a unique opportunity to receive a percentage of sales made by YC families, which supports our students' educational experiences directly by providing important funding. Participation in this program does not deduct personal bonus points from your individual Giant card. In fact, it allows you to leverage those hard earned (or spent) points to do good for YC!  Please consider registering your bonus card account and be sure to select York Catholic as your beneficiary. You can do so by visiting  https://giantfoodstores.com/school-rewards/ . This is a great way to support YC. Every time you shop at Giant with your bonus card, you will be supporting our students. If you wish to register and would like assistance, please submit your bonus card number to Jennifer at [email protected].

These are two great ways for YC to earn thousands in free money.  Thank you for your support!
Thanksgiving Break

School will be closed for Thanksgiving break November 22-27.
Staff Update

Welcome to Lauren Fritz who has joined our Art staff at YC.  She started this week and will be teaching Art 7 and Art 8 for the remainder of the year.  Welcome Lauren!
Emergency Notifications
Notification
During inclement weather that would cause a school closing or delay of schedule, York Catholic will call/text/email you through our One Call Now Emergency Notification system.  Other modes of notification include WSBA 910-AM, WGAL TV-8, and the YC website.  Students from individual school districts are automatically excused if their district closes and does not provide transportation to YCHS.  The exceptions to this are Southern and Southeastern.  These students follow York Catholic's delay and closing schedule.

Text Option Requires Your Action
In preparation for the colder months ahead, we have updated our "One Call Now" Emergency Notification System.  In the event our school schedule is adjusted due to weather, a phone call and an email will be sent to the contact information we have on file.

A text option is also available.  If you opted-in to receive text messages last school year, you do not need to do anything additional.  If you did not receive text messages last year and would like to, or you are new to our school, you must "opt-in" to receive text notification.

To do so, text the word  ALERT to the number 22300.
Do not include any words other than the word ALERT.

After doing so, you will no longer receive a phone call at that number and will only receive a text message.

If you do not want to receive text notification, you do not have to do anything.  Your phone number and email address from our MMS system have automatically been entered into the One Call Now system.
Ice Rink Parking

The management of the Ice Rink has requested that we remind all drivers to
follow the signs for the traffic patterns when entering and exiting the ice rink parking lot. Cars have been observed entering the exit which is dangerous for everyone using the lot. Please be careful and respectful of the privilege of using this parking area.
Bishop to Celebrate Thanksgiving Mass

Please join us on Tuesday, November 28, at 10 AM in the auditorium for our YC Thanksgiving Mass with Bishop  Ronald W. Gainer.  Catholic Harvest Food Pantry representatives will also speak to the student body after Mass about the good work we have done to help feed the hungry in our community.  Students will also hear a presentation by a representative of Stewardship:  A Mission of Faith.
Retreat - Grade 10

The Sophomores will be on Retreat on Thursday, November 30, at Temple Beth Israel and at the York Jewish Community Center.  The students will be learning about the Holocaust and about modern Judaism as an enrichment to their study of Scripture this year in Religion class. Please remember the Class of 2020 in your prayers as they prepare for a day with each other and with our Jewish brothers and sisters.
Magazine Drive Item Pick-up

Perishable items  and merchandise purchased via the paper form through the Magazine Drive must be picked up Wednesday, November 29, from 3-6:30 PM in the YC cafeteria.  The items will be pre-bundled under the student's name.  We cannot store any items not claimed during this time.  Online orders and magazines will be delivered directly to homes.  If you have any questions, please contact Sheila Gick at [email protected] or 717-846-8871 x217.
Winter Sports Team Pictures
Coaches will distribute the picture order forms prior to picture day. On those order forms, you will be able to purchase team photos, along with several different individual packages.  The forms must be returned to the photographer with payment on picture day. If the forms are misplaced, please go to   https://order.lifetouchsports.com/index.cfm?event=OrderHome&contractID=138996 to place your order.  Print the receipt and have your child present it to the photographer on picture day. When the completed photo packages are delivered by Lifetouch, they will be given to the coaches to distribute to those who placed orders.

Athletes must be clean shaven and have regulation haircuts. All undershirts must be the same color and be PIAA-legal.
