Revelations 3:20 " Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me."

This verse speaks to our relationship with God. How often is there a knock at your door and you are too busy to answer? Could this be your opportunity to begin that relationship? Or, maybe, God is just knocking because he hasn't heard from you in a while. Our relationship with God begins when we first accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior and has no end. This relationship needs to be built upon and nurtured for life. Our relationship with God provides us with guidance and direction, and educates and shapes us into the person God wants us to be. During this season of Thanksgiving, let's count our blessings, which are from God. And if you can't see those blessings, then listen for the knock. Behind that door there is peace and comfort abundantly waiting -just answer the knock.

Dear Lord, our loving Father, I thank you for the relationship that you share with me. I find peace and comfort through our daily conversations and Your guidance. It is through You that I am me. I ask that You fill me up with Your love and words so that I can introduce You to those around me. Use me to bring a little peace and comfort to the World. Amen

pdaPresbyterian Disaster Assistance Delegation in Puerto Rico
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - Spirits were high as services began Sunday at Monteflores Iglesia Presbyterian Church near downtown San Juan. The people were warm and welcoming to the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance delegation that had come to worship and fellowship. The PDA delegation is spending the week visiting with churches, church leaders, Federal Emergency Management Agency representatives and communities to assess needs and determine how Presbyterians can help.

At Monteflores, the Rev. Arelis Cardona Morales said that though the church has been without power since Irma, the congregation has served as a community distribution and support center, processing and distributing thousands of meals for neighbors daily for the last five weeks, distributing emergency monies to those in critical need, and other services. The church is also planning, along with ecumenical neighbors in Vega Alta, to host over 2,000 persons for a hot Thanksgiving dinner.

In October, WFPC giving for Presbyterian Disaster relief totaled $598. Thank you for continuing to care!
commitmentGenerosity Update
The response has been strong. Thank you to those who have already pledged. We are close to meeting the asking ministry budget for 2018. If you have not made a pledged financial commitment to the ministry and mission of WFPC, do so prayerfully, as we actively work together to touch lives with the power, healing, and message of Christ.
dataChurch Database Update
Has your email address changed? Have you gotten rid of your landline? Do you have a new work phone number? As we are getting ready to move to a new software system at WFPC, we are trying to update our membership database and make it as accurate as possible. If anything has changed for you, please let us know so that we can update our records. You can email Cindy Shriver at officeadmin@wakeforestpres.org. Thank you!

adventAdvent Decorating
Christmas helpers are needed to decorate the sanctuary, narthex, and entrance to the church. The first Sunday in Advent is December 3; decorating needs to be completed before Walk Through Bethlehem begins on December 1. There are two opportunities to join the festivities: 9:30 AM on Monday, November 27, in the sanctuary and 10:30 AM on Thursday, November 30 to unload and place the poinsettias in the sanctuary. Any questions, please contact Sandie Buda at sandiebuda@nc.rr.com. Your help is greatly appreciated!

10,000 COOKIES!
Walk Through Bethlehem has over 3,000 visitors each year. Part of our hospitality is to share cookies and a hot drink with our guests. Please consider a donation of cookies (Christmas cookies are the best!) or a monetary donation for hot drinks. Drop off your cookies in the kitchen or at the desk in the narthex beginning this Sunday. Checks can be dropped in the offering plate with "WTB Refreshments" on the memo line. Questions? mandyduguid@wakeforestpres.org.

Giving Tree
This year Mission and Outreach is doing a new thing -- we're going to have two Christmas trees set out that have "ornaments" for you to take home. They'll highlight three missions of the church to which you and your family can give gifts: Christmas Angel, Back Pack Buddies, and the PC USA Giving Catalog. You'll pick an ornament that will have instructions on how to help; we will "de-decorate" our trees all the way up to Christmas Eve.  Keep an eye out for more information to come!

  • More than one out of three adults have prediabetes. Of those with prediabetes, 90% don't know they have it.
  • You are more likely to have prediabetes if you are overweight, over 45 years of age, and are not physically active at least three times a week.
  • Prediabetes can lead to heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes (the most common form of diabetes).
  • Prediabetes can often be reversed. Click here for information that can help you understand the lifestyle changes you can make to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes and other serious health problems.

Blood Pressure Screening
Because of the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, the blood pressure screenings for November and December will be combined. Screenings will be held on Sunday, December 10, following both services.

We will start at the church by stuffing stockings for the participants in the Meals on Wheels program that meet in our church daily. We will then divide into cars and head out for our random acts. We will meet back at the church to share dinner and stories from the evening. Be on the lookout for the form to sign up! It is imperative that you sign up so we know how many drivers to secure.
