You can make the holidays brighter for your neighbors
winter-gift-holding.jpg The holiday season is a busy time for Mission Central. We see an upswing in the number of guests we see each week as families are balancing the many extra expenses they face this time of year.

As you, too, prepare for the holidays, we hope you will make plans to share your time and gifts with your neighbors in HEB. The following ideas are just a few ways that you could make the holidays brighter for our friends in the community.

Host a Food Drive
The top-five items we need at the Village Pantry are canned pasta, spaghetti sauce, jelly, toilet paper, and diapers (all sizes). Please consider hosting a food or toiletry drive at your company, church, or neighborhood association to help fill our shelves with these items. You can also encourage your guests to forego host or hostess gifts at your parties and bring items for the pantry instead.

Volunteer at the Mobile Food Pantry
The December Mobile Food Pantry is on December 8th. Join us from 8 am - 11 am at the First United Methodist Church of Hurst as we share groceries with our neighbors. (The address is 521 West Pipeline Road and pre-registration is not required.)

Complete a Volunteer Application
We have ongoing volunteer opportunities at the Village Pantry, Community Resource Center, Coat of Many Colors Resale Shop, and Village Library. Get a jump on your New Year's Resolutions by submitting a Volunteer Application.

Honor a Loved One
Pay tribute to a loved one by making a donation to Mission Central in their memory or honor. (Note the recipient's name and address in the "Other Comments" section of the online donation form.)

Shop at the Coat of Many Colors Resale Shop
You'll find great bargains on holiday decorations when you shop at the Coat of Many Colors and every dollar you spend will support the programs of Mission Central.

Donate to the Coat of Many Colors Resale Shop
If you're cleaning house to get ready for guests, bring your gently used clothing and housewares to the Coat of Many Colors Resale Shop. You'll have more room in your house and your items will be resold to benefit the guests and students of Mission Central.

Buy One, Get One
Buying a gift card for a friend or colleague? Buy another one for Mission Central! $10 gift cards to places like Walmart or Kroger are given out throughout the year to help guests purchase prescriptions or buy gas to get to work or school.

Smile!
If you shop at Amazon.com, start your purchase from www.smile.amazon.com and choose Mission Central Metroplex as your charity of choice. A percentage of your purchases will be sent back to Mission Central.

Connect Your Cards
As you shop for your holiday feasts, be sure to swipe your loyalty cards at Kroger and Tom Thumb to support Mission Central.
