POAH opens first market-rate rentals in Chicago's Woodlawn neighborhood in 40 years
|
Mayor Rahm Emanuel joined local officials and residents of the Woodlawn community to celebrate the first market rate units of rental housing to be constructed in Woodlawn in more than 40 years. A community celebration commemorating the grand opening of the new $12.5 million
Trianon Lofts was the latest milestone in the Woodlawn renaissance and another sign that the neighborhood is once again a destination where people are choosing to live and to work.
"Trianon Lofts demonstrates the City of Chicago's commitment to building stronger, safer communities with more housing and better economic opportunities,"
Mayor Rahm Emanuel said. "Today's grand opening represents the latest step in Woodlawn's rebirth and reflects the hard work and commitment of Preservation of Affordable Housing and our other community partners."

joined local legislators and town officials to announce the completion of renovations at Brandy Hill Apartments, a 132-unit affordable housing community East Wareham at the gateway of Cape Cod, MA.
"Safe, stable housing provides the foundation for so many other things in our lives, including health, education, and job security," said
Congressman Keating. "I thank Preservation of Affordable Housing for their work developing the Brandy Hill Apartments to provide housing certainty for the people in my area who need our help."

Rhode Island Housing Board of Commissioners approves financing for Oxford Gardens/Oxford Place
Rhode Island Housing's Board of Commissioners last month approved financing to preserve 128 affordable apartments for South Providence families, elderly and disabled residents. Oxford Gardens and Oxford Place, two adjacent properties located between Broad Street and Prairie Avenue in lower South Providence, were originally developed by the People's Redevelopment Corporation (PRC), a community nonprofit.
After nearly three decades of ownership,
PRC selected POAH to carry on their important work and ensure the preservation of the developments. Under the terms of the financing, POAH will combine both properties into one ownership entity and will extend the affordability of the apartments for an additional 40 years.

POAH, Housing Advocates working to preserve 4% credit in final tax package
As Congress considers legislation which would make sweeping changes to the federal tax code, the 4% Low Income Housing Tax Credit - the primary financing vehicle for the preservation and renovation of affordable housing in the US, responsible for roughly half of all Housing Credit production nationally - is at risk.
POAH is working alongside thousands of other housing advocates to ensure that the 4% Housing Credit is preserved in the final tax package.
