Senior Spotlight : Matthew Brussard
An Article by Teachers Kathy Giovando and Amanda Bradley
Matt Brussard is a quiet and polite young man. We have had the pleasure of having him as part of our Advisory and FLC this year. When he is with us he is a pleasure to interact with. He smiles easily at our dumb jokes and bantering. He brings an air of positive calm energy to the classroom.
Mr. McLellan says of Matt:
"It's been a great pleasure of mine getting to know Matt the last 4 years. Although some might find him to be serious, his dry sense of humor has been a welcome and sometimes necessary relief in class. Matt's desire to work, and more importantly, work with a purpose will suit him well in the future. I have no doubt he will meet the challenges ahead of him and succeed in any endeavor he chooses to pursue"
Ms. Bradley and I wish we could have known Matt prior to this year.
When Matt is finished with school, he has a job as a warehouse manager lined up with Andover Corporation,
which is a recognized world leader in the manufacturing of high-quality optical coatings and optical filters.

Senior Megan Sheehan Signs Letter of Intent at Assumption College
Congratulations, Megan, this is an honor well deserved!
Earlier this week, Sanborn senior and stand-out track athlete Megan Sheehan signed a National Letter of Intent to become an Assumption College Greyhound this fall. As a Sanborn Indian, Megan has broken (and re-broken) multiple shotput and discus school records in her time at Sanborn. We couldn't be more proud of her.
Thank you, Megan, for sharing your special moment with all of us at Sanborn as you signed your letter!

I Applied Day Was a Success!
A Message From the Counseling Office
On Monday November 13
th
, 2017 Sanborn Regional High School participated in New Hampshire Higher Education Assistance Foundation's (NHHEAF) I Applied Day. I Applied Day promotes New Hampshire Colleges and Universities in partnering with NH seniors to attend one of the many great colleges within the state. Historically about 70-75% of SRHS seniors attend a four or two year college immediately after high school. This day allows them to apply to all NH schools with a fee waiver to remove any cost barrier that may prevent a student from applying to college. The School Counseling team partnered with teachers and administrators to successfully register 65% of our students to attend the I Applied Day, understanding that not all students are ready to apply to college so early. On that day 79 seniors applied to 2 and 4 year schools while in attendance. With amazing support from our partners at NHHEAF, volunteers from NH schools admissions teams, and our own School Counseling department, the day was a success!

Did You Know?
By Annie Collyer, Chairperson, SRSD Budget Committee
Did you know that the Sanborn Regional School District Budget Committee met on October 12 with the new Business Administrator Michele Croteau, to review the format in which the Administration's spending and revenue projections for the District will be communicated this year? Ms. Croteau has been establishing procedures for the financial order of the District, with the goal of being as transparent as possible.
The initial budget meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 1 at 6 pm in the High School library in a joint meeting of the Budget Committee and the School Board. The public is invited to attend and/or to view the video that will be available on the SAU17 website, to be fully informed. The Budget Committee, which has the duty to prepare and present the budget to the voters on February 7, 2018, will hold two-three other joint meetings with the School Board to make sure the budget aligns with District goals for education, with prudent attention to the funding provided by the taxpayers of the community. The members established their calendar of budget development meetings as well as guidelines for conducting their business.
