DISTRICT CHURCHES FEATURE CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES |
It's the holiday season, and that means several special events occur in Westchase District. Up first, West Houston Assistance Ministries is collecting unwrapped toys and cash donations for their annual holiday toy drive and they need your help. Children ages 9 and under will receive toys and children 10 and older will receive $20 gift cards. You have until Monday, December 11 to deliver toys and cash to WHAM at 10501 Meadowglen Lane. Toy distribution is December 11-15 for those families who signed up in advance with the remainder of the gifts distributed the following week. Questions? Contact Cindy Orman, 713-568-6322.

You can better understand the economic drivers at work in West Houston by attending the West Houston Economic Development Summit on Friday, Feb. 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Omni Houston, 13210 Katy Frwy. The event is hosted by the Houston West Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Ray Perryman, president and CEO of the Perryman Group, will address the financial devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey and the business community's current recovery status. Now in its fifth year of providing cutting-edge economic forecasts and top-level networking opportunities, this year's summit will expand to include a morning session designed to focus on local businesses' most pressing issues, including healthcare, finance, energy and real estate.

Congratulations to
The Hunton Group, located in Westchase District at 10555 Westpark Drive, on being named a
Top Place to Work by the Houston Chronicle for the fifth time. The HVAC equipment, controls, distribution and mechancial company received the announcement on the 36th anniversary of the company. Hunton jumped from the 30th top workplace in 2016 to fifth place in 2017.

ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS FOR TEEN LEADERSHIP SUMMIT
|
State Representative Jim Murphy wants you to nominate high school students to attend the the 2018 West Houston Teen Leadership Summit. This summit, open to 200 teens, will provide an opportunity for them to collaborate with local leaders in business, media, politics and personal leadership. This free event will take place Saturday, February 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Norris Conference Center CityCentre, 816 Town & Country Boulevard, Suite 210. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Summit organizers are looking for students who might already hold leadership positions, or who embody characteristics of a leader. These students must be sophomores (Class of 2020) or juniors (Class of 2019).
