Volunteer Recognition Program
|
|
On November 14th, 2017, Community Consultant Jaret Dezotell presented the
Original Humboldt Committee
with a
Volunteer Recognition Program (VRP) Award.
The Original Humboldt Committee was formed in 2008 with the goal of securing, preserving, and developing the Original Humboldt site. Since that time the committee members have taken an 80 acre parcel of prairie land and developed it into a fascinating living heritage site.
This project is inspirational for the thousands of small city museums across Canada that strive to harness the passion and conviction of volunteers and community to create an inclusive and imaginative world-class site. When this project began, there was nothing but a field with some proposed archaeological material beneath the surface and potential stories. Through the volunteer committee’s passion and hard work, thoughtful and professional research, the stories have emerged, the connections with communities developed, and the interpretation derived through creative presentation.
Along with the VRP award, the committee received a $1000 grant which was utilized for landscaping equipment to help maintain the outdoor heritage site.
The Prairie Central District would like to congratulate the committee members
Dennis Korte, Rev Alvin Hingley, Reynold Fortowsky, Edward Novecosky, & Garry Jenkins
on being recognized as outstanding community volunteers.
