Volunteer at Second Harvest

Calling all good deed doers!
Temple Emanu-El volunteers will be sorting food next Wednesday, 11/29, at Second Harvest Food Bank. This has become a fun and rewarding annual tradition. Please join us. We have plenty of space available.
The sorting begins at 6:00. Dinner will be served at 5:30 at Second Harvest Food Bank, for all those who RSVP. RSVP to robertlouislevy@msn.com.  For any volunteers under the age of 18, both Youth Permission Form and Volunteer Agreement are required, and a parent or guardian over the age of 21 must accompany those youth between the age of 14 and 15 years of age.  Volunteer Agreement.   Youth Volunteer Agreement.
Shabbatluck Dinner

Everyone is welcome to join our congregational family for a Shabbatluck Dinner. These potluck dinners take place throughout the religious school year on the first Friday of each month before the Erev Shabbat Family Service.
On December 1, our family service will be led by our 6th Grade Class and will feature the participation of our 3rd Grade Class.
Meet and schmooze with these students, their families, and our congregation during a friendly potluck dinner and stay for a delightful Shabbat service.
Please bring a dish to share. The following designations are based in the first letter of your last name:

Village House Shelter
Wednesday, December 6 - Wednesday, January 3
Village House addresses the needs of up to 15 medically fragile women through the provision of food, shelter, hygiene services, spiritual and part-time case management support.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!  We encourage everyone to donate their time to Temple Emanu-El as we host these women.
Baby Shabbat

Temple Emanu-El presents a Shabbat experience geared towards families with children ages 1-30 months.  Little ones will enjoy a service full of Shabbat songs, Torah talk, and parachute play!  Kiddush, motzi, and a bagel oneg sponsored by Temple Emanu-El Sisterhood follows this fun-filled program.  What a great opportunity for parents of young children to meet and form groups- perhaps even life long friendships- with their peers.  Everyone is welcome!
Latkes and Laughs

TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW! Enjoy potato pancakes and punchlines from amazing comedians.  A delicious, vegetarian, latke dinner is included in the ticket price. Temple Emanu-El Holiday Dinner Drive
Help share the joy of holiday meals with others! Embrace-A-Family

Once again, Temple Emanu-El is partnering with Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley to fulfill the Chanukah holiday wishes of families and seniors who would otherwise go without gifts. Stop by and pick up a wish card, return your gift and dreidel tag to JFS by December 19, and put a large smile on someone's face! We are Going to Israel
Temple Emanu-El has two unique and fun opportunities to travel to Israel with Rabbi Dana Magat in the near future.  Each trip is an amazing opportunity to connect to Judaism, your fellow congregants, and more!
Trip One: June 18-29, 2018.  For adults looking to return to Israel and experience the country on a deeper level.
Trip Two: July 4-15, 2018.  For families and first time Israel travelers.

People. Book. Land: The 3,500 Year Relationship of the Jewish People with the Holy Land
November 27-30 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Hillel of Silicon Valley, together with Simon Wiesenthal Center, will be co-sponsoring the historical exhibit.  To launch the opening of the exhibit, there will be a VIP Reception on Monday, November 27 at 5 pm at San Jose State University (in the Ballroom of the Student Union).  The cost of the VIP Reception is $36.  There is no cost for viewing the exhibit.  This is the only exhibition tracing the history affair between a people and the Land of Israel to have earned the co-sponsorship of the United Nations.
