Westland's Police and Fire Departments Partner for 13th Annual
 "Shop with a Hero" event

Westland, MI -
Westland's Hometown Heros partner during the holiday season to become heroes to kids in need. Westland Firefighters and Police Officers will suit up to shop at the Meijer in Westland (37201 Warren Rd., Westland, 48185) for their annual Shop with a Hero event on Tuesday, December 12 at 5:30 p.m.

Shop with a Hero is a popular community initiative that partners public safety officers and a local business to help give low-income families a Christmas shopping outing.

This year, thirty children will participate in the event and shop the aisles of Meijer with Westland Fire Fighters. The children will also receive a visit from Santa and a pizza party.

This is the 13th year the Westland Fire and Police Departments have participated in the event and Meijer is the sole sponsor. Each family will also receive a food gift basket for their holiday dinner.

"To be able to provide a child with the joy of Christmas is an incredible opportunity," Stated Mayor Wild, "Our first responders and local charitable groups who are also participating do amazing work each year to ensure that the children of Westland have a magical and memorable Christmas."
