District 6 Newsletter
December 2017
Dear Neighbors ,

We're nearing the end of 2017, and the year has been full of lessons and blessings. I continue to learn the job of a San Jose City Councilmember and the best ways to represent our community. It's been like the proverbial "drinking from a fire hose!" I appreciate all the kind emails of support from the residents of District 6.

The Great 408

November 29, 2017, marked San Jose's 240th birthday. Mayor Sam Liccardo and Mercury News Columist, Sal Pizarro, launched The Great 408: a campaign to celebrate the gems, history, and culture that have helped make San Jose the great city it is, and set the tone for our future.

Each week, interesting and unique tidbits will be unveiled on the The Great 408 website, in hopes to fuel San Josean pride and inspire others to learn more about the city we call home.

We encourage you to submit your ideas on The Great 408 website. As the list grows, we hope you'll share all that's great in the 408 on social media, using #Great408.

Check Before You Give

The Santa Clara County District Attorney Consumer Mediation Services wants you to check before you donate to a new charity during this holiday season.

In the wake of the natural disasters, tragedies and holiday season, many good-hearted people want to help those in need. To avoid charity scams, we suggest the following:

Check the Agency on one of these websites:
Be careful with telephone solicitation as it is difficult to identify the real source of a phone call. Know where your money will go by asking how your donation will be used and request copies of financial reports from the charity. Avoid giving cash and protect your personal information.

For questions, call the Consumer Mediation Services at 408-792-2880.
