I would like to call your attention to a free Open House sponsored by the Maryland Health Connection to provide information for enrolling in health insurance, switching health plans or those having trouble trying to enroll or renew. The health insurance enrollment event, on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. is at the Oakcrest Community Center, 1300 Capitol Heights Blvd, Capitol Heights, MD. Trained experts from Maryland Health Connection (MHC), the state's health insurance marketplace, will answer questions and help Marylanders enroll in health and dental coverage before the deadline of December 15, 2017.
Please pass this along to friends and family who need insurance or are having difficulty enrolling. The email below contains important information regarding what documents you need to bring.
In addition, I wanted to point out our Attorney General's advice (noted below) that due to the changes and uncertainty in the marketplace, their office is advising consumers to seek the help of a navigator. The navigators from the Maryland Health Connection will be at the Open House on Dec. 9th to provide free advice.

Consumer Alert: Marylanders Purchasing Individual Health Insurance on Maryland Health Connection Urged to Seek Advice to Maximize Cost-Savings
Maryland Attorney General Brian E. Frosh today advised Maryland consumers to shop around this year and not just allow their plans to auto-renew, and to seek expert advice or assistance in making their decisions about health insurance. Enrollment for individual health plan coverage for calendar year 2018 is currently open, and the deadline to sign up for 2018 coverage is December 15.
"Rising costs and the Trump administration's decision to stop making cost-sharing reduction payments have significantly changed health plan pricing in Maryland," said Attorney General Frosh. "Consumers, particularly those who receive little or no financial assistance, are strongly encouraged to seek individualized advice from a navigator or broker to find the best plan at the best price."
