Keep Spreading the Word!

Our admission season for entry next fall is up and running, and we are enjoying meeting so many families keen to apply to our two schools.

Please forward this flyer (click the button below) to your family and friends for this coming week's RHP Discovery Days. We host incoming Upper School this Tuesday morning and Middle School on Thursday. Families will hear from Division Heads David Maher and Heidi Morris, and get a chance to look in on classes. Visiting parents are always amazed to observe the dynamic interactions and high quality teaching and learning going on in our classes and the vibrant atmosphere of and community on our campus.

Please encourage your friends to come along for a snapshot of Husky life! (These Discovery Days are focused primarily on the RHP experience. If you know families who might be interested in Renaissance, please have them contact the admission office directly.)

Join the RHP & Ren Sailing Team!

Our sailing team has been performing spectacularly this year, but additional members are welcome to join. Unlike seasonal sports, the sailing team has numerous competitive opportunities throughout the entire year. We partner with King Harbor Yacht Club's Youth Sailing Program and encourage students to both learn and develop their sailing abilities among other high school students.

If you or your child are interested in joining the team, contact one of the lead student skippers, Cade Morris or Drea Keswater.

Donations Needed

Holiday gifts for children in foster care:   Each year the Sandpipers, a philanthropic group in Manhattan Beach, organizes the purchase of gifts for children living in foster care families.  Each advisory group has one childto help.  Advisory groups will determine how to collect money and how the gift will be purchased; NHS members are available to help purchase the gift after money has been collected if necessary.  The gift must be purchased by  December 8.

Food drive for families using Harbor Interfaith Services:  Harbor Interfaith helps over 700 needy families in the South Bay.  Each advisory group is collecting non-perishable food items:  canned good, cereals, packaged meals, peanut butter and jelly, etc.  Grocery bags are in each advisor's room; please have your children take food to school.  There will be a prize and recognition for the group that brings in the most food.  NHS members will transport the food to Harbor Interfaith after December 12.

Purchase Your Holiday Scrip

The time has come to think about all those people in our lives who have made a difference. If you are planning on purchasing gifts for those people - why not choose Scrip? Scrip is an easy way for you to do your Holiday shopping while raising funds for the school - at no added expense to you!

1. Purchasing for Teachers/Staff: Purchasing Holiday gifts for these unsung heroes in our kids' lives couldn't be easier with Scrip! Simply print the attached spreadsheet ( click here) and fill in the amounts you would like to give to each teacher or staff member and return the form with a check made out to RHP. The teachers/staff then get to pick out the gift cards they would most like to have! There is also a flyer attached ( click here) that explains the process in more detail.

2. Purchasing for family, friends or yourself: Planning on purchasing gift cards for those people who are hard to shop for, are far away, or even perhaps for your own practical holiday shopping needs? It's simple! Go to  www.shopwithscrip.com and set up an account. RHP enrollment code is: A52E794C9128. You can pay online or with a check. If you choose to pay with a check, simply drop that check off in the school office. Your cards will be ordered and back to you before the holiday break. When you see the rebate percent - that is the amount that is given to the school for that purchase!

There is more info on the Scrip site or you can contact Melinda Alcott at  [email protected] if you have any questions.

THE DEADLINE FOR ALL DECEMBER ORDERS IS FRIDAY, DEC 8TH.

Thank You For Supporting Our Schools With a Gift to
The Husky Fund

Thank you to all families who have already made gifts to The Husky Fund. Our target this year is 100% parent participation, in 100 days, to reach our goal of $750,000.

Determining the size of your family's gift is a personal decision; amounts typically vary from $25.00 to more than $25,000.00. In a perfect world, if every family contributed $2,600.00 for each student they have enrolled, we would make our goal. In reality, we know that financial circumstances differ widely and some families will give more while others give less. For additional guidance on this matter, we invite you to review the suggested giving levels detailed on our website and on the remittance envelope you received in your Husky Fund packet.

Please keep in mind that while tuition is not tax-deductible, gifts to The Husky Fund are. When it comes to prioritizing your year-end donations, we urge you to make your children and their education the greatest recipients of your philanthropic giving. Your support of our schools' missions is truly appreciated.

"'The definition of a supermom is a mother who successfully manages a household and cares for her children while holding a job and being active in her community. You perfectly embody that role. Words cannot describe how thankful and proud I am to have you as my mother. And I'm sure many people here have a supermom or  super dad  or a  super guardian . Tell them how grateful you are to have them, because at the end of the day, no matter how hard you try to believe that they are only out to get you, they will always love you and put your needs before theirs."

"'Facing your fear is not an easy thing to do. Sometimes, you are so afraid of doing something, but you just need to try it one more time. That might happen on purpose or by accident, and then you may find that overcoming the fear that you used to have is just a piece of cake. "

Mr. Gablehouse introduced his A Block Geometry students to the magic of lasers during a lesson that investigated angle reflection.

Mrs. Hagee's Honors Government Class began their "Presidential Survivor" project, emulating the popular TV show. Students portray a single president and compete in teams to become the last president standing. This week, George W Bush and FDR were voted off their teams.
